First time at the track

I went to the track friday night and I must say its alot harder then it looks. Please give me some pointer my buddy with a stock ls1 automatic firebird was killin me. I know one thing I screwed up was I ran the drag radials at full 32psi not 15psi. I could not get this thing to hook at all I had a 2.4960 60foot and 2.4458. My mph was 80.93 and 80.49. Some pointer would be great let me know what you think seems really slow for what i have in the car.

starting is the fun part, going faster is the expensive part

so what were your times for the 1/8?

I only have a 85.31 mph for a 7.99 et with a 1.669 sixty foot

so take a half a second off yours and that's close to what you'll get with a better 60'

as far as speed it is only relative to your et only some what.

try starting at 20 psi. and don't rush yourself, let the car cool
were you spinning or slipping the clutch?

practice practice practice

times

9.5018 and 9.6862 pretty crappy. I mean i have everything umi sells for my car and drag radials. I THOUGHT I'D GET BETTER BITE WITH DRAG RADIALS BUT THEY SPUN LIKE STREET TIRES. I'm going to try with lower pressure hope it helps. I had a blast but I was disapointed. thanks for advice. Jack

read some of these threads on launching with a stick and apply their knowledge. I would have been happy with a 9.5 the first time I took my camaro

If you want too, start another thread or search, and see what the best 60' time is for BFG drag radials

some others and myself have gotten a 1.8? or better on street tires

You need to properly heat those up and drop the psi to 16-22lbs. If you need a line lock to heat them up get one, the best way to drop your 1/4 and 1/8 mile is by dropping that 2.5 60ft.

If you can cut a 1.9 or 2.0 60ft things will be much much better.
