Talking Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

I ran the car tonight at Muncie Dragway and was running consistent 13.0x's for my first few runs.....and then it started to get a little cooler and I was able to knock off the following run.

RT .......-.047
60' .......1.877
330 ......5.407
1/8 .......8.322
1/8 mph .....84.04 MPH
1000 ......10.850
1/4 ........12.974
1/4 mph ......106.40 MPH

I am super happy with how the car is running...it is very consistent and I was able to take home 3rd place trophy in the bracket racing. Now I need to get me a nice 3200 or so converter and be into the solid 12's consistantly.

Good Job!

Now get to the 11's

Grats on breaking the 12's and good luck on future runs.

Awesome times, the converter should definitely help you nail consistent 12s.

This was with a stock converter? I hope I can get a similar 60ft when I get to the track with my 3.73's and drag radials.

Yep stock converter.........I originally had 2.73 gears and the best I could pull was 2.00x 60 foots with BFG drag radials. Then I added the gears, headers, and switched to MT Drag radials and I am now pretty consistantly in the 1.8's with some runs being low 1.9's.

good stuff.

I did my 1.93 with a lot of luck on bfg KDWS tires... just got my bfg drag radials today and some some sub frame connectors so i hope i'll be able to get some consistant mid 1.8 60's with the 3.73s

Re: Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

Its so much more fun being able to floor it off the line too. Back when I first started going to the track I just used street tires and I had to baby it off the line even with 2.73 gears. After I switched to drag radials I was hooked, and now I don't think I can ever go back to street tires.

mattybz28: Good luck with your 3.73's and the BFG's.....should make for some easy 1.8x 60 foots. Run those BFG's at around 20 psi or maybe a little lower and do a small burnout and they should hook really good.

Re: Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

congrats MarkyM. glad to see another LT1 in the 12's with just bolt-ons. once you get the converter you should see around a 12.7 i would guess. back when i had bolt-ons i went 13.03@103 w/ a 1.74 60ft(i think). but that was without the gears and the tune, so i know i would have gone a little faster had i not installed the cam. i havent had a chance to get a run with the cam since i messed up the car, but once again great job

I predict 12.4 to 12.5 easily with a good converter. I would reccomend a vig 3600. Don't waste your time or money on a cheap converter.

Re: Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

I ran again tonight and the conditions were even better......around 50 degrees. I was able to pull off 3 consecutive 12 second runs and then the track gave out and I was running 13.0xx's spinning a little. My best run was as follows.

RT ........ .105
60' .......1.889
330 ......5.430
1/8 .......8.332
1/8 mph .....84.54 MPH
1000 ......10.846
1/4 ........12.958
1/4 mph ......107.28 MPH

My 60 foots weren't quite as good tonight, but the colder weather gave me some more power on the upper end. I may have to opt for a 3400 or 3600 converter. Do you guys think that would still give me streetability or would driving on the street suck???

Re: Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

since your still bolt ons you should opt for a 3200 stall just for drivability. but if you want max e.t. go for a 3500. i would get a vig. w/ a 3500 stall and if you dont like it just send it back for a reflash.

How does it feel on the street? Were those times in your sig with the converter and gears?

Re: Finally got a 12 second timeslip!!!

^heck no..those times were stock with a cutout on street tires.

I'm running this Thurs. night so i'll let you know some times. The converter was looser with the 3.23's. The car pulls really good down low. The converter is a 2.5 STR and typically LT1's are low rpm tq. kings.

These gears tightened the converter up (which i expected). I'm expecting my car to be an 1/8th mile performer better than 1/4 per say. But I love driving my car now. I've got the shifts so hard that i break the tires loose at 1/3 throttle accelerating.

I drive my car everyday and IMO is perfectly streetable.
