Battery relocation mounting question.

I need to be NHRA legal. How should the sealed batter box be attached. The rules state 3/8 bolts to the frame or frame structure. I would like to mount in in the T-top well.

Since there is no real frame in a third/fourth gen, you need to do some reinforcing.

First of all I'm assuming you're using a Moroso box or a similar SFI approved box. Taylor makes an aluminum one that also passes.

The box must be attached to the floor. Run the 3/8" rods through the floor. Since there's no real frame you need to have some reinforcing under the floor. Large fender washers will do the trick. They key point is that you don't want the nuts and washers to pull through the floor.

Once the box is secured to the floor, the battery is then secured to the box. Tech doesn't want to see a setup that if only the battery is unbolted and removed that the box doesn't also come out.
