Back on the track finally

Finally after a long time away I got back to the track in the firebird. It was great to finally get out and I had time to reflect on how luckey I am.

First time shot I felt very relaxed and deep staged the car. Nice run and the car ran perfectly after a year and a half nap. I cut a .014 light and ran 7.77 @88.90 mph. Not too shabby.

Second shot (against the same opponent lol) 0.42 RT and ran it out to a 7.79 @89.43

A rare third time run and a late .069 RT and I raised the 2-3 shift point by 1000rmp to see if the car was running right. As in the past that extra rmp made the car picked up et by .04. Ran it out to a 7.73@90.84

Eliminations. I dialed a 7.83 and plan to shift at the normal rpm. Holding but not as much as folks would think if they were paying attention to my last time shot. Go against a car dialed 6.91. I put it in deep relaxed and hit the tree. I'm out green ahead all the way giving it 4 rips then one more rip just before the stripe. I took the stripe and the win light. My .008 RT and ran a 7.840 against my opponents .048 and 6.987 breakout.

Eliminations round 2. I leave the 7.83 on the window and head back to the staging lanes. I get pulled out for the by. Last pair go down and I'm still waiting. Finally they tell me I have the guy comming up. This car was being raced by 2 folks and the track gave him time to get back into the lanes. No problem. Fact is I would rather race someone round 2 so I could get a by later in the race. I finally see the dial of 6.49. Well I'm not confortable judging that much of a difference being this rusty. I decided to do the spot drop on this pass. I go in deep and hit the tree. Ugh I feel that was late ...oh well. Hit my spot (light pole)on the track and give it 5 rips. He takes the stripe and win light. Results yep I was a late .077 but spot droped dead on with a 7.855. Opponent cut a .035 light and ran 6.431 for the win.

Over all a good day for me. I need to stage a bit better and get on my practice tree. I'm very happy on how the old formula is getting down the track.
