Unhappy 1st time to the track, EXTREMELY disappointed!!! ---

I am SO embarrassed/disappointed in my car lastnight. I know its an LT1 but I think every neon/civic there handed me my ***!!!

It was my first time at the track....and my best run was my 1st, lol out of 7 ... and they just kept getting worse and worse and worse. For some reason my top end was REAL BAD (even sounded like it was missing at 5k+) and I couldnt launch for beans.... kept sounding like it either wanted to stall, like rocks were crushing up front (timing retard? clutch?) , or I kept burning out WAY too bad.

My mods are KN CAI, granatelli MAF, air foil, edelbrock shorties to a catted y pipe, and 3" catback to a flowmaster muffler. I have a short throw and 315's on my 17 zr1's and ran worse than a STOCK lt1 . I have 136k on the odometer..... here is my best run ; dont laugh too hard.

r/t .345
60' 2.473
330 6.502
1/8 9.771
mph 75.71
1000 12.541
1/4 14.902 @ 94.72 mph HAHAHAH

Oh well, I had fun and that is all that matters.....AND the car got me home :P. Time to install the ported heads, stroker, cam, and lt's ....then the 125 shot if I can handle it ---

Don't run the nitrous 'til you learn how to drive that machine!!!!

My buddy ran a 13.75 bone stock with his '97 Z28 M6. Your car definitely has a lot more in it ... you need some serious practice first, before you need more mods!! Otherwise you'll have an LT1 on nitrous getting beat by stock LS1's!!!

GREAT advice, I have been told my 60ft is killing me. Its hard to figure out that perfect point between stalling and burning out, lol. I have ZERO experience launching hard because I am scared to street race (tickets, and I am usually under the influence )

Edit: thanks for the compliment on the looks, I got a bunch of looks lastnight, but I bet people were laughing at me in the end :P ---

+1 Get your sixty foot time lower and it will show on the under end.

From what I have read this item is not a good thing. --->granatelli MAF Get rid of it.

Thanks again. I think I will practice my launches more like in an industrial park at night. I honestly thought it would be a peice of cake to get a 13.9, LMFAO!!!

How hard is it on your clutch to "launch" over and over? I THINK I have a centerforce two with 30k miles on it but I dont trust the previous owner much ---

I went again lastnight. They didnt start racing until 6:15, then cancelled it at 7pm. They gave us "rainchecks". It was fun though, because I got 4 runs in 45 min, lol!!!

Here is the best of tonight:

.325 r/t
2.403 60'
14.690 1/4 @ 96.40 mph

I know its still crappy but I gained almost 2 mph and over .2

Pics of me and my buddy in his 05' GTO ... his best of the night was 14.147 @ 101.94

looks good, they say for every .1 in the 60 u take off its .2 or 3 off your ET
so an easy full second if u can get to a 2.0 launch... (13.6ish). And even more if you can start getting under the 2's!

That was very cool of you to explain that to me , thanks bro. I think the next step will be a madz28 tune and leave it at that until I can get some shop time scheduled for the big engine rebuild.

I want to hit the shop today and get my suspension parts put on. If I get subframe connectors, lower control arms/and relocation brackets, and a torque arm installed would that help me or are those mods for when I am putting down more power?

i would say get the car running right, then do the suspension mods before you put down more power.. at least thats the way i am going to do mine.. i want the suspension to be able to handle the power im going to give it..

and if you work on your 60' time you should definately get mid-low 13's with your current set-up. also if you have them, put your stock wheels on with some DR's.. that should help considering the zr1's are heavier.. hope that helps!

Power is cool, but if you cant plant it to start with then its useless. There is a lot to be said for practice. I can run in the 12's all day long with maybe 270rwhp. Tires, Suspension, Gears, and Stall (for the auto guys) those are the big parts you should look at rather then more power. Your low ETs are not a product of low power but from poor launches.

Practice, practice, practice...If your serious about running well be at the track every chance you get and I bet your ETs drop like a rock after a few weeks of it!!

Good luck.
