12.0 bolt-on M6...full weight...street tires
Ohh so close to the 11s but it wasn't meant to be I guess. Exactly 1 year ago I ran a new best of 12.15. Today's new best went like this.
60'...1.862
330'..5.11
1/8...7.79@91.76
1k....10.09
1/4...12.02@116.53
After a few passes on the street tires, I tried some passes with MT et streets. I guess between me not having a line lock, having to do my burnout the old fashioned way, and the sticky tires, the clutch slipped on launch and wouldn't allow me to make the 2-3 shift.
I ended up switching back to my street tires for a few more unsuccessful attempts to run 11. I did also get a new best mph of 116.8 on another pass

Yeah, the ls1 is a beast once it gets going. Still like the way my lt1 feels out the hole though.
Thanks. I'm real happy with the mph...especially at 3660+ pounds. Still have another couple bolt-ons I could try but I think they may be a bit too expensive to justify the minimal hp gains.

I think you are leaving something out. You are either running forced induction, nitrous, or you have an aftermarket cam. 116+ trap in a 3660 lb car?????

Either the car is lightened or the previous owner has some stuff in it that he doesn't know about. I was trapping over 116 mph with 415rwhp -- that kind of power usually nets around 116-117 on a 6-speed unlightened F-body.

After going over the list I saw I didn't list the ls6 intake and UD pulley. Ok...no spare tire and jack. Sorry, I knew something else was missing but couldn't remember what. With them back in, the car weighs over 3700 with me in it. The temp was in the mid 30s, barometer 30.6, low humidity. DA was probably somewhere between -1500 - -2k at a close to sea level track.
Car still has full interior and factory SS wheels with toyo all season tires. All this with 146k miles.
I know it doesn't sound right but believe me, I almost sold this car when I first got it because it only ran 14.4s @ 100 my first time at the track with it. The car still had the original plugs and the valvesprings were done. With them replaced, the car was a totally different animal.
My driving has gotten better and I have the benefit of great tracks and great conditions. I believe my times can be easily duplicated with similar mods to any ls1, in similar conditions, and with a halfway decent driver.
I don't have a fast intake or an electric WP. Not worth the cost to me for a tenth or two.
I was shocked when the car ran a 12.15 last year and the 116 mph was even more shocking. The previous best mph was 114.9 on a couple occasions. Imagine how i felt when I saw the 12.02.
I tried mounting the skinnies from my '94, but they required more grinding to the caliper than I was willing to do. My goal is to run 11s on street tires at full weight...or close to full weight (spare and jack delete).

Here's a link to my 12.15 pass from last year. Nothing has been done to the car since then. The conditions were a little better this year and I had a slightly better launch.

I mean, you might want to check and see.... but if this is indeed true, you may be on the verge of a record. Lighten the car a bit and go for the record.

It's not the low 12 second ET that we're questioning. There are LT1's right on this sight running low 12's and upper 11's with bolt-ons. It's the 116.5mph trap speed. How in the world would you have gained enough power from a few simple bolts ons to add a DOZEN MPH'S?!?!?! Bolt-ons just don't add 120HP to an LS1, or any GM 5.7L ever produced for that matter. And at a 3700 lb raceweight no less.

My car slows back down to the high 12s and 111-112 mph in the summer months. Fully in range with what others run. I have a couple other friends that run similar mph with less gear and at the same weight. When I initially saw what they were running, I thought the same thing you're thinking now...
I figured because my mileage was so high, my motor was probably weak. I did notice that my car seemed to be hitting the rev limiter before going through the traps. It turns out that I was floating the valves. It was then that I decided to change my valve springs. My valvesprings alone picked me up 2-3 mph.

It's the DA that's giving him the mph. Just like high DAs in the summer will slow a car down, low DAs in the winter will make any car faster.

THANK YOU. I'm glad someone understands. I have nothing to be gained by lying about my mods. I'm not close to any records. I believe that this combo just works perfectly together.
