windows 8.1 and scan9495
i have downloaded the files 3 times and have tried to scan my 95 Z28. it shows it is connected and scanning....but it does not show any codes or any other kind of information whatsoever. after all these attempts to get this to work i am going to have break down and spend the ridiculous $ to buy the scanner i need. i wasted valuable time and money for the aldl cable that connects to my laptop.

System is proven to work. You may have a faulty cable. Did you read GaryDoug's attempt to help you, in response to your earlier posts?
Do you have any purpose coming here, other than to trash scan9495?

Scan9495 works perfectly with Windows 8.1! For the price of a cable you get a scan tool that works better than my Actron 9145 and has functions that aren't available on any of the affordable scan tools. (ABS,SIR and Actuators) Thanks again to GaryDoug for providing the software.

Is your cable one that was purchased ready-to-use, or made from the parts I specified ?? Some of the newer 12-pin to 16-pin adapters have different colored wires from the one I posted. The symptoms of that are the same as yours. You may have to use a multimeter to find out which wires to use. I would like very much to get this working for you, but you have to provide some dialog.

Re: windows 8.1 and scan9495
Here is something to try and it won't cost anything. Download Freescan from the same site as you downloaded Scan9495. See if you can get that to work. It operates the same way but has less capability. If it works, there is something wrong with the installation or scan9495. If it does not work, the cable's drivers may be wrong. I have seen it happen that Windows says the driver is ok, but it still doesn't work for any software.
Also, I almost forgot. Make sure you are not running the Scan9495-V6 version. That is for the 3.4L V6 car
Another thing: Do this to make sure the cables drivers are loaded: With no cable attached to the pc, start the Scan9495 app and see what choices (if any) are available in the Com Ports drop down box. Exit the app and plug in the cable to the USB port. Start the app again and check to see what ports are added to the Com Ports drop down box. If no ports are added. the drivers or cable is not working. If a port is added, make sure to use that one for the app.
