I recently ordered 4 completely different OBD2/ELM327 scan Bluetooth adapters from different Chinese sellers and NONE of them worked on my 98 Firebird. This is new, since the older one I have from 2012 works fine. I took apart all four and found that they are missing the parts needed for the J1850 protocol (GM and Ford cars 96-07) and for the K-line protocol (Chrysler cars 96-07). The only protocol supported by the few installed parts was the CAN (all cars 2008 and later). It seems that the Chinese are cutting corners big time on these and installing only the parts needed for the newer cars, and hoping the customer will not try to return it when it doesn't work. I notified Amazon about this and they are conducting an investigation (labels and ads all say "Supports All Protocols") but I doubt anything will come of it. This should not affect the more expensive US-made products.

I have no bad results so far for the OBD1 adapters.
