It's simple: Download the file CDM20824_Setup.exe and run it.

It looks like the pci system drivers are bad or not installed on that pc. Do any other USB devices work on this pc? See this video about installing the drivers for that system device:

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

thanks i ended up buying the devils 12pin and got cd install of right drivers and everything is a ok i am learning more about my car with this software. thanks garry!! BTW to others who are wondering which one to choose whether that be scan9495 or freescan i tried freescan and it is way to complicated for the average DIY mechanic there were also some noticeable bugs when i was trying to perform DTC test on freescan i recommend scan9495 because its easy and it has a lot of good features. there is some stuff that i never knew about my car that i could now see with this program. i am sure there is room for improvement but overall a great program just wanted to share my experience.

One of two ways:

1. Click on the "Auto-save scan file" checkbox (on the engine tab) to turn it on. A ".csv" file will be created in the same folder as the Scan9495.exe file. It will have the date, time, and VIN in the filename. It will collect the data and log it as you scan. The downside to this method is that the scan will be a little slower. The upside is that you wont forget to save it later, it's already saved.

or...
2. Wait until the end of your scan and then click on the blue "Save scan to log file" button. Same as above for file location and name. Downside is that you may forget to do it and quit the program before saving. Upside is that the scan will be a little faster.

Tip: If you resume scanning later, it may add to the earlier existing file, depending on the time between them.

All engine data will be saved to the log file, including status bits and engine section DTC's.

To retrieve the saved scan file anytime, click on the yellow "Read scan from log file" button.

Hi Gary. Great work on the program. I was wondering if this is compatable on my 93z? And if so what adapter do I need? Thanks

Scan9495 now supports the 93 LT1. I didn't bother renaming it. The only thing it does not support is the early 93 SIR (airbags) module. But you can get the trouble codes from that using the 93 service manual.

The adapter is the same as for the 94 (12-pin).

GaryDoug...you rock! Just went through this thread in preparation for my RedDevilRiver cable which should be here Tuesday. I have the program in my computer and am looking forward to not only TS the ABS code but the SES lite that appeared while the car was at the paint guy. Great thing you have done here... and seems you do it because you just want to help us out. Thanks!

GaryDoug...I had to refresh my laptop, again in preparation for using the scan9495. SO...all my old apps need to be reinstalled. The best place to download your app is from the link at the beginning of the thread..? Correct?

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Gary? You getting tired of hearing how cool this is? Got my RedDevilRiver cable today, downloaded the driver and plugged it all in. And ... behold I am now the owner of a bitchin scanning tool for my Z28! I had a SES light turns out it was a 29, AIR pump. Replaced the fuse and no engine light... what is really nice is I can cycle the air pump on and off to make sure that the fuse would not pop again. I think the detailer at the paint shop might have used some water under the hood and got the pump/wiring wet and it shorted. Who knows its fine now and thank god no opti problems. The ABS lite is a left front excessive speed variation. Looks like I need a new wheel sensor.

I like the sound effects too. When I went to delete the DTC the computer honked at me and asked if I really wanted too. I wish I would have got this a long time ago. Its so easy... read the thread, follow the direction given and BAM it works flawless!

Thanks Gary!!

re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Just learning this whole thing now, I put a request in to see the pdf regarding the info from the scans. Its very interesting. So on my first scan my knock counts started off at 3060. Alarming at first because I just started the car in the garage and ran it for about a minute. When I went out driving they went up when the rpm was about 4500 at a couple of points and the timing showed some correction. I think I need to put my LT4 knock module in this computer. I have two, with two different tunes. The dyno shop that tuned the presently installed pcm said I shouldn't have too, I think they are wrong. First question is: Why did they start off so high in the first place? (Knock count)And secondly I wish to confirm that shorty headers and my new Magnaflow exaust w/flowmaster muffler might be making enough noise to induce the pcm change in timing. The car ran perfectly and I did not even hear the slightest bit of ping, so whats up? Thanks! The car has the stock valvetrain and a stock replacement cam.
