OBDII chip programmer advise
I fried my PCM a couple of days ago and want to do the socketing and reprogramming of the chips to save the PCM.
The chips in the OBDII PCM are AN28F010.
I have searched and found a couple of threads stating tha WILLEM programmer wil handle the OBDI chips: AN28F512 but sofar I have not found any advise doing OBDII chips.
Somebody care to suggest a low buck programmer for this tasK?
Thanks for looking

Re: OBDII chip programmer advise
Are you sure it's not AN28F010.. if it is ... here is an example.. click on programmers and then you need an adapter "PLCC 23 to DIP 32" to handle 28F 010 flash memory chips . Not sure on what s/w you are using to load the tune file into the chip. I'm not up on OBD2 products. http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=A051

Re: OBDII chip programmer advise
The chips in the OBDII PCM are AN28F010 (T side) and AN28F512 (E side), one of each . Sorry for the mistype. I just edited my post.
I think the newer Willem programmer already includes a socket for the PLCC chips and an adapter does not seem to be needed. I wonder if somebody actually had done the programming of the .bin file on to the OBDII chip

Re: OBDII chip programmer advise
Have you tried these other two sites ? Moates Support or TunerCat / JET OBDII Hardware and Software . Maybe someone will have some info. Maybe JetDST can write to the burner the same a TC and TunerPro Rt do for OBD1 stuff. Remember the 28f010 128K flash memory chip came out in the mid-late 90's and was primarily used on the 486 and 586 PC's for bios memory. (You PCM is basically a modified 486 processor). The 28f is an old technology. Not a lot of them around and after that the chip programming voltage shifted towards +5V architecture instead of +12 so there were really no compatible newer chips to replace it. New burners have jumpers or adapters that allow voltage selection for writing older chips.

Re: OBDII chip programmer advise
I ordered the Willem programmer Ver 5.0 off ebay for about $27 and it arrived in about three days. It does support the PLCC flash memory chips in our PCM's directly on the board without the need of an adapter.
I have a good spare PCM I am using to master the technique and its very doable. I already succeeded unsoldering the flash memory chips with the hot air gun metod found on the web and used the recovered chips to try out the programmer. Works like a charm. I copied the .bin files from both chips and saved them. afterwards I erased one of the chips and reprogrammed it. The data checked out 100%.
Flash memory chip on its place on the board:
Flash memory chip unsoldered. Just need to clean up a little.
Willem programmer with chip in the socket after being programmed:
Now I need to work on the socketing of the PCM in order to complete the whole deal.
