If you have an OBD-I capable scanner, you use the correct adapter cable that is made for your scanner and the 16 pin 95 DLC. Follow the scanner's instructions to scan. I have heard of some people not having good luck with the Innova scanners and OBD-I for some unknown reason, though.

Im trying to do the same thing. I have a Blue Point 3120 as well. Tried the method on shoebox's site. You use pins A and M correct? I made the cables out of hard wire, not wound, could this be an issue? Any help could be appreciated. I want to blow my camaro up now.

My scanner is a BluePoint ya3140 (OBD1 & 2). It has all cables needed to scan everybody elses car. I have searched everywhere for a compatable cable to no avail. I have checked the cigar fuse and it is intact, but my cigarette lighter is not connected (like that when I bought it). Could this be an issue (don't think so though)? Does anybody know of a website/ business that I could buy the correct adaptor from? Also, is it possible to change the ALDL to a 12 pin setup?
Thanks alot for your time and knowledge. I'm slowly learning that a "cheap" car usually costs more in the long run!
Thanks alot

The fuse for the cig lighter is not an issue on the OBD-I setups, there is no +12V supplied to the ALDL connector. Shoebox has a diagram showing how to jumper the 12-pin OBD-I connector from your scanner cable to the 16-pin OBD-II style connector used on the 95's:

If a scanner has a full compliment of cables and adapters, it should include a 12-pin -> 16-pin adapter for the 95 GM cars that have the OBD-I PCM with the 16-pin ALDL connector.
It seems like the people who can't get their scanners to work on 95's are the ones using expensive, newer scanners. No one has these problems with the Auto Xray that used to be the standard for OBD-I GM cars.
