Why three dipsticks????
Ok I asked some friends so that I would not have to do this and embarrass myself again but they were not able to help...one thought a power steering stick? As you are looking at my 350 SBC from the front of the car I have two dipsticks on the left--one oil and one tranny (all good) then I started exploring the other side and low and behold there is another dipstick on the right side. It is too short for a tranny stick and looks like it has oil on it. Is it possible to have two oil sticks that are functional? and why would you want two? Thanks for any suggestions you may have. Oh my motor is in a 1983 Camaro if that helps.

I have done a little research since I originally posted my question and sorry but I have no camera to take pictures, but I found out that the particular block I have was made for either a right or left hand oil dipstick. Since it is a 350 and my car is an '83 the motor has obviously been switched and whomever the rocket scientist was who done the switch must have decided to change sides on the stick and not plug the original one. They are both a PIA to get to anyway. Yes they both have oil on them and yes they are both at the same level, and the one on the drivers side has absolutely no markings on it other than a full line so I will just have to assume that I have two oil dipsticks and either plug one or just forget it is there. Thanks fellas---I appreciate the attempt to help solve this little riddle for me. Thank God for Google.
