What exactly will stock stall do on my comp xe 274h cam?

I have a car with stock stall. It had 2400 stall but it was removed by former owner when tranny died. I have a pontiac 400 engine in my 80 ta.
I have 3.42 gears its an auto. Comp recommends a 2000 up stall for this cam. Now I plan on selling this car so can I sell it with stock stall and what effect will stock stall have ? Currently the car has a holley double pumper 750 and having big problem. The car idles at like 2000 in park but sucks down to 700 in drive. Is this do to stock stall and this cam. I bought an edelbrock 750 performer since the holley has other issues will I still see 2000 in park and 800 in drive ? If I down to like 1500 in park it usually stalls when put in drive.

Also wonder if local tranny shop can cut open my b and m stall and repair it possibly? It was expensive nitrous holeshot stall converter and worked well in the car. The car was mine then sold to buddy and then repossessed back recently. He managed to kill a turbo 400 with maybe 350 hp don't ask me how. He put in another turbo 400 and shift kit .

I ran a comp 274 in my 77 corvette and it idled at 750 rpm no problem, even with a stock converter, although a higher stall would have helped on take off. Sounds to me like you have tuning problems to address first? vacuum leak? Try opening the air/fuel mixture screws a turn or two and see if you can get it to idle down.Unless your a professional mechanic you probably don't have access to a propane enrichment tool, but if your careful you can use carb cleaner to spray around carb base and intake. Probably good idea to have fire extinguisher handy as this is also a great way to find plug wires arcing stray voltage! Good luck!

Hmm car is not running great. I am doing a bunch of stuff to try to get it to run better. Its getting header leaks fixed today and tailpipes installed. Monday am putting back the b and m 2400 nitrous holeshot. It was taken apart and inspected and is ok.
I have ordered a new HEI and new msd wires. I installed a brand new edelbrock electric choke performer carb 750 size. Car starts better now but still was doing the 1500 in park and 700 in drive .Plugs seem like they are loading up at idle.Changed 7 out of 8 plugs the back one was hard to do. Try to do it shortly. Factory delco 45 xs or something plugs were installed.
Starting to think have problem with ignition or maybe have broken valve spring ,have crower dual springs on the car. Will inspect for that very shortly.Heard it can give symptoms of popping and stuff like I have been experiencing.

It will be nice to have the stall back in there. It made a big difference before. The 274 might work without it but better with it. So the effect of having to put the car at 1500 in park and then having it drag down to 700 in drive is not normal even for no stall?
Guess find out myself shortly.

Stock stall, almost identical set up to yours, my car is going from about 1000/1100 idle to about 700/800. The stall has always been stock on my car, but I know it doesn't help at all. Most guys run a good converter with deep gears on a 400with this cam.
Regardless, my 400 is living proof that somethings wrong there...
Try working with the timing, and the carb. Also check vacuum and for leaks?
