Tranny/Engine Help
Hey guys ive got a 96 v6 camaro that im doing a swap to. I know it will be a lot of work but i plan on dropping in a 383 crate engine. I am going to be purchasing a t56 tranny from a 96 Lt1. I m going to have it built up a little bit, and I know it will fit but how do i tell if its actually from a LT and not an LS(i know the LS wont bolt to the crate engine) just by looking at it. Any suggestions/advise?

Re: Tranny/Engine Help
The LT1 T56 has a clutch fork mounted to a ball stud on the front cover of the trans. The hydraulic slave cylinder mounts on a cup, on two long studs on the driver side of the bell housing:
The LS1 T56 does not use a clutch fork. The slave cylinder and throwout bearing are an integrated assembly, mounted on the front cover of the trans, concentric with the input shaft.
