I bought this motor from a friend who said it was a 350. I pulled the heads off just to find the pistons looked kinda small. I ran the numbers at the local chevy dealer and was told it was eather a 262 or a 305 .the code on the back of the block below the head is 355909 it has a non egr 4brl intake can you help?

i,ve been doin some research, ive come up with this: it is a 75, 262 with 60cc chambers heads with 4 brl. Do you know of this engine? what is the horsepower? if anyone can give me some info that would be great.
during the smog era gm was down sizing the cubes i an effort to meet emissions. they also used a 265. they both sucked and nothing can be done because they use a very small bore and can't be made larger. sorry but you got a boat anchor that only reduces the value of your boat.
1969 chevelle ss396 now doing frame off. pro touring style. Going with turbo 5.3ltr

ASE MASTER CERTIFIED,L1 & X1
Worst V8 GM every produced. Even the wimpy 305 can outperform it. I hope you didn't pay more that scrap metal value for it.
