Can i take off my ecu on 92?
i have a 92 rs v6 im doing motor swap to a 350.060 over witha th350 tranny and want to loose all the of the unnessary wires . Do i need to leave the box hooked up and just cut wires? Theres got to be a better way!!!

If you're going carb, you can run without the ecm. Just make sure and put a regulator on the fuel supply or your carb will spew gas right out the vents. Also need a stand alone distributor and need to watch out for compatability of exhaust manifolds/headers with location of dipstick tube, left or right. Might want to ask in the 3rd gen section for more details.

don't just cut wires. it is easy to cut the wires for the dash. get a diagram and reuse the oil sender and temp sender in the 350. while the engine is out run your fuel lines over the trans tunnel to the fuel pump.. i would remove the stock fuel pump and make a tube to go to the bottom or get a 84-85 sending unit. you will need a torque arm bracket but i would look for a new crossmember with the torque arm bracket on it. easier on the trans.

When I changed my 87 IROC to carb I hid all the wires in the pass. fender and kept the computer installed just to turn the fuel pump on b/c I did not want to rewire that.
As said you'll need an HEI distributor...what I did was cut the connector off of the fuel injection harness off of the coil and used the PINK wire for the 12 volt source for the new dist. and the white wire is for the factory tach to work. Worked out really easy and all the wiring was still in the car if I ever wanted to switch it back to fuel injected.
