79 Z28 suggestions for any buildup at all
79 Z28 4 speed with 3.73 rear end. 355 with Eagle rotating assembly ( i believe its all cast steel=/), KB hypereutectic flat top pistons, Dart Iron Eagle S/S heads, Holley Street dominator dual plane intake, Mallory HEI distributor, Carter 625 CFM carb, Comp Cams XE 262 hydraulic flat tappet with matching springs and rockers, Headman headers into pypes 2.5 X pipe and street pro mufflers. hotchkins rear leaf spring kit. QA1 12 way adjustable rear shocks.
Right now the car makes a good amount of torque and is pretty fast for its weight. its just not enough. i am looking for the best cam and head combo for this motor to get it going even more. or i could turn it into a 383 which i would like to do. if i decide to go that route i want to build it with the right parts and i know i will def need new heads then since the 383s like to breathe more. Like any 19 year old kid, i have a limited budget unfortunately. I am constantly researching different peoples engine combinations but i figured that your guys input might help me out even more. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

What is the budget? That is the critical element. Then we can look at different options. I assume you will be doing all the work yourself?
The short block is fine for street duty. Keep it under 6500 RPM and no power adders and it should survive fine. If you plan on reving higher or spraying it, then the bottom end would need to be addressed.
IMHO, look for an aftermarked CNC ported aluminum head that will keep you compression ratio around 10 and keep the intake volume around 200 cc's. Any more and you will have to rev the crap out of it to make power. I have had good success with the comp cam's thumper series flat tappet cams. Real power would come out of a roller setup but again, what is the budget?
Good luck.
