79 camaro t56 swap
hey guys i have a question regarding my 79 camaro z28. currently its got a th350 auto transmission and i want to change that to a manual. i also have a 94 z28 which has a t56 transmission. if i were to use the 94 as a parts car, would it be possible to swap the t56 into the 79? if so, what issues would i run in to, and what other parts would i need to buy? i know i will have to cut a hole for the shifter, and also get a new flywheel, drive shaft and center console. but will the clutch pedal work in the 79? any insight on this is much appreciated especially if you have done something similar to this.

Re: 79 camaro t56 swap
I think he just wants to swap the T56 in to the 79, not the entire engine/trans.
McLeod makes an SFI-rated bell housing, and adapter plates that allow you to bolt a T56 onto just about any engine. The design originally required the LS1 (98-02) version of the T56, with it's conventional "pusher" clutch, but I think they may now have a setup that allows the use of the LT1 (93-97) T56 with its screwy "pullback" clutch. In either case, you would be installing the hydraulic system to actuate the clutch. It could probably be integrated with your 79 pedal, but the linkage would have to be removed.
