6al or digital 6?

I'm looking for the right ignition box.

I know the digital has the timing retard and the rev limiter which are nice but can will the 6AL do the same thing minus those things?
I'm not using nitrous and I'm going with a pro billet distributor.

Also which coil are you guys using? MSD keeps telling me to use the blue blaster coil but everyone I've talked to says use the classic oil style coil.

I'm looking for some feedback. Any is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

~Jim~

The 6AL box is an excellent choice for ordinary street/strip use. I used that unit for years on a race-only application. As long as it is a 6AL and not a 6A it has rev-limiting capability using a plug-in module. The Digital series is loaded with features that cost a lot of money and provide a high degree of flexibility for more exotic applications but a 6AL is a very good unit for basic ignition support. I used an ordinary MSD Blaster 2 coil. For $90 more the Blue Blaster would need to provide some very tangible advantages to be worth the money. I've never used one so I can't comment definitively.
