Electric Cut-Outs

I will be going home to hunt easter eggs this weekend and decided to purchase electric cut-outs to install under my 69' camaro. Before I head home to install it, I would like to run through the install in my head, it's pretty straight forward. The only question I have is where should I run the harness from the switch inside the car to the cut-outs under the car? I assume I will splice the positive side to the wires leading to my oil pressure gauge light.

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

good luck if your car is lowered...

i put them in right off the headers and they scrap like crazy with the 2 inch drop front. Over my break i am going to attempt to fix them but idk how or if it is possible to fix it....

u want to use the 12v source from your oil pressure light? Just take it off acc. or bat terminal on ignition or run another wire to the bat and a switch. I ran my 02 sensor wires along the frame so they are out of the way and away from heat.

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

My cut-outs are placed right after the header reducers, and they will hit pavement if I am not careful. I guess my dreams of lowering my car are now out of the window! Did you run the harness through the firewall, then down the subframe to the cut-out. Should I splice it into the fuse box?

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

DO NOT LOWER IT
you could get a cut out built into the exhaust system....http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...1525&langId=-1

I do not have electric cut outs...that would never fit

I got the harness for the 02 meters going up the fram rail and though the fire wall with a grommet. that is the ez part.

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

I was wondering about that. I thought that some kind of wires were already running down through the same area, probably underneath the center console. But if there isnt, I don't really want to start drilling holes all over the floorpan!

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

Well went home yesterday to install them and guess what? There isn't enough room to install them. I will try a couple of exhust shops in town to see if they can move the existing cutout out of the way of the subframe and give me enough room to install electric motors. But I don't really want to hack up the pretty exhaust that is already on there.....

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

I built my exhaust and turned the cutouts toward the inside to get the electric motors on there. so now they dump under the car instead of outwards. not a big deal to me.

Re: Electric Cut-Outs

Okay after some extreme cutting, grinding, and welding the electric cut-outs are on the car. kmanRS/SS was right, I eventually had to angle the motors inward just a little to clear the subframes, being able to open the exhaust whenever the hell I fell like it, is awesome. This is definately one of the best mods that I have done to my car in the past 2-3 years. Thanks for all of the help and support fellas.
