1997 Z28 M6 Mystic Teal Metallic

I ordered this car in March 1997 and planned on never selling it. I'm buying a business and liquidating everything that isn't bolted down... including my baby that I said I'd never sell.

A few highlights, the car has no t-tops, I didn't want to give up structural rigidity. I had been building this car to "do it all". It's balanced to drive on the road, road course, or drag strip. The drive train is setup to support 1,000, though the motor never got past 400. It's Mystic Teal Metallic, looks green in some light and blue in others. Has been garaged kept it's entire life, babied with Zaino products, covered a majority of the last 10 years... you'll have to see it to believe the condition. I'll include all documentation (including window sticker, all receipts, service records) a front end bra, car cover, a few extra oil filters, etc.

The Good:
  1. 134,xxx miles
  2. Mystic Teal Metallic
  3. Garage Kept, IMMACULATE cosmetic condition
  4. Lloyd Elliott LE2 Heads
  5. LT4 HOT Cam
  6. Hooker Super Comp Long Tube Headers
  7. Mufflex y-pipe w/bullet cats
  8. Borla Cat Back
  9. BBK 58mm TB
  10. K&N Cold Air Induction
  11. PCMForLess ECM
  12. Moser 12 bolt w 4.11 (custom built by A&D Auto, heat treated, lightened, etc)
  13. BMR Strut Tower Brace
  14. BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod
  15. BMR LCA
  16. Spohn Adjustable Torque Arm
  17. 1LE Sway Bar
  18. 1LE Springs
  19. Bilstein Shocks
  20. LS1 Front Brakes
  21. Stainless Steel Brake Lines
  22. Poly Motor Mounts
  23. McLeod Street Twin
  24. Pro 5.0 Shifter
  25. OEM SS Rear Spoiler (98+)
  26. OEM SS Rims

There are so many other little things that I'm not including, SLP Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Comp Cams "R" Series Lifters, hardened push rods, new OEM water pump, shift light hidden in vent, JLA Stealthbox, Alpine headunit and EQ, 30th Anniversary mats, etc.

The Bad:
  • AC needs to be recharged
  • 5th Gear synchro showing wear/failure
  • Passenger side head gasket leak

As I mentioned, I never planned on selling so it is not currently in a condition I'd sell it in (I would fix the head gasket leak, recharge the A/C, etc). Given that it is not in perfect working order, I'm offering this for sale at $4,000. The heads and rear end alone are worth more than that, option 2 would be to part it out if I can't get my asking price. I hate to think of it, but someone could part this out easily if they felt so inclined.

A couple of quick pictures I just snapped, I'll post additional pictures after I clean it up this weekend.

Known Issues:

• Developed a passenger side head gasket leak recently. New top end put on in 2012, only a thousand miles or so since then. Last fall I noticed it smoked a little bit as I let it warm up before taking out for a drive. I put it back in the garage and it sat for a month or two. Next time I started it, it smoked noticeably more than the first time I noticed it and it hasn’t moved since.
• Stock right rear caliper e-brake cable “ear” broke off. Replaced with a Dorman aftermarket unit, have not yet gotten e-brake cable reconnected properly
• It had been getting harder and harder to get into 5th gear. If RPMs are matched well, it slides right in. Otherwise it requires a little more force. Will not downshift from 6th to 5th.
• Starter has a loud “click” when first engaged. It’s new, not sure if it’s expected but it seems different so I wanted to mention it.

Noteworthy:

• It has been garaged kept every day of its life except for one year (1999), a majority of the last 10 years or so has been covered in the garage
• I will include all documentation I have with it, service records, receipts, etc.
