Where do i run the RMT wire from my amp?
I know i'm supposed to run it to the fuse box or some wire that only has power when the ignition is on, but I don't know which fuse to connect it to, or how to connect the wire (splice, solder, butt connect, clamp, etc?????)
I want to get this hooked up w/in the next week or two, so if someone could offer some install instructions (ie: not "hook it up to a fuse in your fuse box that comes on w/ the ignition)- i mean specific instructions on how to do this.
Thanks,
J

ok u should probably make a post about this....

but this should do....
run the wire to the fuses...take the radio fuse out.... strip the remote wire about an inch
wrap the wire around one of the prong things of a fuse and just shove it back in there......thats the easiest way to do it.....or if u just wanna test to see that your system works....take the remote wire and put it on the 12+ and just remebr to take it off when you are done

yes, a post would have been better, but we'll answer here cause we're cool like that.

If your deck is an aftermarket deck, there will be a Remote wire in the wiring harness. That's the one you'll use to turn on the amp. If you're using the factory deck then there really is no need to go to the fuse block, just go to the deck. Tap in to the Yellow wire that is between an Orange wire and a Pink wire. (there are two yellow wires, be sure that you have the right yellow wire). Of course it's a good idea to test this wire to make sure it comes on with the ignition and then goes off. You want to use this wire because this wire is delayed and still has power until you open the doors. Some of the other wires at the fuse blocks may not be like that.

oh yeah, when we're making this FAQ, let's get something together as an instructional for "How do I take off the door panels"

Someone has a REALLY good step by step on this for the R&R of the power window motor. I'm not sure where that's at, but if someone knows where it is, we could use that link.

I looked at the LS1.com FAQ, but it doesn't really seem to work for me since I have a '97, in which the Monsoon system wasn't yet available. From what I understand, the wiring is different. I really need a wiring diagram for the stereo, so if anyone has one that's for a 1997 Camaro w/ the6 speaker system, hook me up, please!

This is what you need to add aftermarket HU in place of Bose

I searched everywhere to try and find the exact part # for what I needed to swap in a new HU in place of my stock bose. The part you need is part # ROEM-GM21 and can be bought from here. It also comes with all the wiring you will need to install your new HU. Hopefully this information will help someone else out.

Here is another thought. Put certain definitions on there as well. For instance:

RMS power/Peak power
Ported/Sealed/Band pass boxes
4ohm vs 2 ohm loads
Parallel/Series wiring
High level/Low level inputs/outputs
Gain
High/Low pass crossovers
Frequency Response
Crossover Slope
ect.
