Speakers buzzing?

Speakers buzzing?
In my 96 the rear side panel speakers have a buzz in them. It persists even when I substituted new speakers in place. The single Bose speaker at the rear is clear as are the door speakers. I have an aftermarket head unit that has been working fine for several years. It has been suggested the problem might be the wiring and not the head unit, but for both speakers? Any suggestions?

Re: Speakers buzzing?
Does this happen even with the engine off? If not, the problem could be with the alternator. Or a bad ground at the rear amp.
If it is always present:
I believe the amp for the sail panel speakers is in the rear subwoofer enclosure. Listen carefully at the sub to hear any slight buzz. If there is some, you might try replacing the Bose relay under the dash. Otherwise, it sounds like a defective amp.

Re: Speakers buzzing?
OK then the alternator is not the problem. I suspect the amp in the subwoofer is defective. Sometimes that kind of noise is caused by old shorting electrolytic capacitors. I would open it up and look for capacitor "cans" that look swollen or cracked. Also check the connector for corroded pins.
