Question Speaker System, Yeah Im Clueless...

So I want a speaker system in my 95' Camaro Z28 Convertible. All this includes 2 Subs, an Amp, a new Radio, and an Enclosure... at least thats what ive heard I'll need. I have $500. HELP ME; what should I get?

I listen to rap/hip hop mostly and want some thumpin' bass!

well, having a convertible does not help you any. they muffle the sound some and there is less room for an enclosure. $500 is doable but a little tight.

The box is what will cost you at least a properly built one, as well the boxes that fit into the hatches are convenient as long as your not looking at serious wattage. Check out craigslist for sub amp combo's...or caraudio.com always has people upgrading their systems.

If your happy with your door speakers then all youll need is a mono block amp. You will want to look at your rms ratings not peak ratings as peak ratings mean next to nothing. If you want just a little thump to cruise around too you should be good with 2 decent 12's capable off around 150 to 200 rms each. As well a headunit to me is always the first step but it is not necessary especially if your on your budget.

A convertible does not necessarily muffle the sound, what it does is leak pressure. So in turn you loose decibels (DEEBEEEZ lol).

If you wana cut down on price a little then you can make your own box, get a friend to help you and measure out where you wana put it, get some Medium Density Fiberboard, wood glue, and wood screws, and build one. thats what i did, set it down in the compartment in the hatch (i dont got T-tops). I may be able to get some pictures of it if you would like

the trunk is totally different in a covertible. I dont even know if the thunderform style box would fit unless specific for a vert. You can build one yeah, but just know most of what you see for coupe models probly wont work.
