Monsoon Radio Package

Was there anything special about the Monsoon radio package in 2000? I recently picked up a project car, and the audio setup is underwhelming, to say the least. Also, it looks like the factory head unit might've been swapped out with one from another car; the faceplate is noticeably lighter than the rest of the dash, even though it's obviously from another GM car.

Was the Monsoon head unit different, appearance wise?

And I'm mainly concerned about the lack of bass with this setup. I had the Bose radio in my old '95 Z28, and it sounded great. To be honest, I don't know how much has been messed with and altered on this project car yet. It could've had speakers swapped out, for all I know at this point.

Re: Monsoon Radio Package

I'll look tomorrow, but I'm fairly sure the radio doesn't say Monsoon anywhere on it. Again, though, it looks like it's been changed. Even though it's a Delco radio, the face on it is a brighter gray than the rest of the dash. The Monsoon radios I'm seeing on eBay look almost black around the faceplate, whereas this radio is a fairly light gray.

Any other way to know if the car originally came with the Monsoon package?

Re: Monsoon Radio Package

The PO said the car had a factory CD changer in the trunk. Did all Monsoon cars have this? Was it available separately of the Monsoon package?

Re: Monsoon Radio Package

Turns out the car does have the Monsoon package. Still says "Monsoon" on the face of the radio; not sure how I missed it before. The car has the optional CD changer also.

The RPO sticker in the doorjamb also has the UZ7 option code listed, for the Monsoon package.
