Dome lights won't turn off after head unit install
I just installed a new head unit in my 95 firebird formula, with the 10 speaker system. It's a Sony X-Plod, $70 radio, that came with 2 6.5" speakers (I didn't install those). I had an old Aiwa radio in there, so all I did was unplug the wiring harness and antenna out of the back of the Aiwa, and plug them in to the Sony. Radio works fine, but now the dome lights in rear view mirror, and in the rear hatch won't shut off! I have the bulbs disconnected, so they won't drain my battery, but I didn't think the radio and the dome lights had anything to do with each other. Not sure if this is just coincidence, or if this has happened to someone before. I'm just fishing for ideas at this point on how to proceed.

My sound like a stupid question... But is the interior light switch on? Don't no if there is one on firebirds, but there are on camaros, so I figured there might be. But just trying to help.

The switch is on my rear view mirror. With the switch in either orientation, the light stays on. Manually pushing the button on the door frame does nothing to turn off the light.

the switch on the mirror is just for the reading light. It will not control the rear light that you said was also on. Did you say that you checked the light dimmer switch at the headlights to make sure it is not clicked to the on position? Usually if you somehow messed up the radio wiring it pops the illumination fuse --> no lights, not on all the time.
