4th gen 12" driver's stealthbox

Does anyone know if these are still made anywhere? I bought a custom one from an individual on here years ago, and it worked great. Unfortunately, it was stolen with most of my other stereo stuff a few years ago.

All I see these days are the 10" stealthboxes, but I really liked my 12" box with an IDQ12 in it.

If no one specifically makes a 12" one anymore, does anyone know if a 12" sub would fit in a 10" box if I just enlarged the opening a little bit?

you'd have to check the dimensions over really well, in my opinion it wouldn't fit. sounds like a good time to learn how to fiberglass. But in my opinion, technology these days can put out a 10" sub that will sound more than good enough. if you're looking for serious bass, you're going to have to sacrafice the t-top storage.

Thanks for the input. If you didn't read all of my post, I had mentioned I already had a 12" one. It fit fine, and worked very well for my needs. I just need to find someone else making the same thing, since I have no fiberglass experience.

If anyone sees one, or has the chops to make one, please let me know!

i meant a 12 wouldn't fit in a 10 box. and you'd need more cubic feet to get proper sound. so you'd probably have to do some re-fab on it, but i'm not sure on that. happy hunting

Ah okay, thanks again. I'll keep looking for someone willing to try making a 12"! One local car audio shop quoted me something like $400-$500 for a custom fiberglass. Talk about sticker shock after only paying about $130-$150 for the last one!

Re: 4th gen 12" driver's stealthbox

I'm surprised a 10" wouldn't be sufficient for you. With an Xtant X604 amp in my Z28, I've used 1 Eclipse Aluminum 10" for 10 years, and it pounds me out of the car. 10" sound better IMO because its tighter bass.

Food for thought...sounds like you're sold on a 12" anyway, but I don't see why its worth it to butcher a Stealthbox to put a 12" in when there are 10" ones on the market that will blow your mind.

Re: 4th gen 12" driver's stealthbox

Thanks for the input. I know that plenty of people use 10" and are more than happy with it. I just chose to stick with 12" since I had one before and really liked how it sounded and performed.

I already bought another IDQ12, which is what I used last time. I have an Xtant 121m (old-school) on the way to use with it (I had an Xtant A3001 last time).

My mains are MB Quart components up front (eventually will replace, I hate the harshness of the Ti tweeters), and Focal Utopia 6W woofer and Focal TNK kevlar tweeter in the the rears. They're driven by an Audison SRX4, bi-amping the rears with an Alpine dual-input crossover.

It really sounds good as-is, and pounds pretty hard for only 6.5" woofers (those Utopias are amazing!), but I know adding the 12" again will make a world of difference. I may even try it free-air first, with just a wooden frame to hold it upright in the usual stealthbox area.

Interesting choice. It is good. It really sounds good as-is, and pounds pretty hard for only 6.5" woofers. Keep it going.
