Did you know that cars can get jealous?

Posted 03-09-2009 at 05:19 PM by ws6transam
It must be true! This is, like, the third time it's happened, where when I bring in a new vehicle, the replacement vehicle has a hissy fit and fails in some sort of fashion. It first happened in 1998, when I brought home our Grand Cherokee. As soon as I did, our '88 Ford Tempo had it's fit by giving up it's clutch the VERY NEXT DAY.

Then, it was the Saturn SW2. We ordered our 2001 Venture Minivan, and sure enough, the day we were to deliver the SW2 to the dealership, the exhaust

Balancing bad economy with fun and career. Such a quandry.

Posted 02-23-2009 at 02:42 PM by ws6transam
I have just go done cleaning off my computer screen. I had to do it, because there was a mixture of saliva, sweat, and tears left over from reading every last word of Jason and Chris's weekend fling with Scott and John's new company Camaros.

It created SUCH a temptation in me to push my '84 out to the snowy curb and hang a FOR SALE, BEST OFFER sign on it. ...Almost enough to make me ignore my wife's wishes to always consult with her on big purchases, and just ORDER me one of those...

July 11, 1992 - The day we got married. Plus, Vet day for the cat!

Posted 07-11-2008 at 10:34 PM by ws6transam
Today we celebrate our sixteenth year of marriage. Laura and I had our anniversary by celebrating in different parts of the city: I got home from work with just enough time to give her a quick peck on the cheek as she ran out to head off to her job. The kids, as it often seems, were oblivious to our mutual affections because they were off squabbling amongst themselves.
I got Laura a card later in the day, and brought the three kids along so that they could help me pick one out. The unanimous...

Confessions of a mobility addict!

Posted 07-10-2008 at 08:28 AM by ws6transam
I must confess: I have some addictions. I don't know how or when they happened, but they did.

One of my addictions is the unnatural fascination with anything related to mobility. That this blog is posted on a car site is probably no surprise, and you, the reader, most likely suffer the same addiction. However mine is deep-seated: I like Trans Ams, Camaros, and most every kind of car with four wheels. However I also love motorcycles, and have had something or another in my garage for...

What if... OPEC cannot find any more oil?

Posted 07-08-2008 at 09:03 PM by ws6transam
Updated 07-08-2008 at 09:12 PM by ws6transam
What if the shortage is really not caused by OPEC nations unwillingness to increase production, but instead is caused by their running all their wells at maximum output capacity?

What if demand continues to increase, and supply stays flat?

What if we are really at the cusp of "Peak Oil"?

T. Boone Pickens has something interesting to say about it on his website:
Quote:
America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70 percent
