Are we expecting a Z28 any time soon?

My apologies if this is contained within another thread that I have not seen. I'm just curious if we can expect a Z28 trim on the current Camaro? If so, any projected time frame?

I have no inside information, but if I had to guess, I would say not on the 5th Gen.

I think the purists have gotten GM's ear and demanded a bit of a different package for the Z28 badge than what the current car is perceived to be able to provide.

I think with the ZL1 taking the halo car role for the 5th Gen. It looks like GM introduced the 1LE for the purists and those that wanted a more road racing focused V8 Camaro while not committing crimes against heritage with Z28.

Does one face trial at The Hague for such an offense?

Since the SS name is being used for new Holden built Chevrolet sedan, renaming the Camaro SS the Camaro Z28 makes sense to me.

I don't see that happening, even if they stick to the stupid idea of calling the new sedan "SS".

Re: Are we expecting a Z28 any time soon?

I don't think there will be a 5th gen Z28. The 2013 1LE kind of takes the place of a Z28. Plus model year 2014 is only 7 months away and there isn't going to be a Z28 made by then, that leaves only 2015, the last year for the 5th gen and probably a shorter model year.

I still say a SS/1LE with a swapped in LS7 would make for one sick Z28, and still allow ZL1 to be top dawg.
