GM's (and Ford) May sales figures

http://www.cheersandgears.com/sales_05.htm

Highlights:

*Total sales: 446,787 (6.5% increase)
*255,936 of that total was Chevrolet
*HUMMER sales are down 30.5%
*Aveo is outselling Monte Carlo.
*Grand Prix's sales are up 45.3%
*Buick's LeSabre, hardly a hot seller, alone outsells the entire Saturn division.
*Corvette outsells the Pontiac Bonneville. And not by a thin margin either.
*Cadillac's Deville outsells Buick's Park Avenue by more than 3 to 1. Deville is finally being outsold by the CTS, but not by much.

Cadillac's XLR sold 333 cars. GTO, 638. SSR sold 777

This doesn't really surprise me. I think with the high price of gas and the "new & different" status symbol now wearing off, this looks about right. You see a lot of them here in Houston. Granted pot holes are bad here, but this vehicle is overkill for the streets of Houston

- Malibu sales are up 38.5% if you include the Classic and Malibu sales
- How many are holding out for the H2 SUT in July?
- You can't get a GTO in Albany NY, out of 4 dealers only 1 had a GTO... whos hording them because they are not piling up on dealer lots near me.
- who bought the one SAAB 9-2x
- Colorado sales keep climbing by about 2,000 a month
- GMC Sierra out sells the Nissan Titan more than 3 to 1

LOL, they must have shipped all the NY GTO's to Texas, we got plenty on the lots down here. You'd think it would be the other way around considering how much better the weather is for RWD cars here

I've only seen two GTO's being driven here. I've seen 3 SSR's now.

the local pontiac dealer has had at least 6 Gto's on hand for a while now. I think they might be moving them though as i've seen 4 different GTO's in the area (1 red, 1 yellow, 2 blue). Not certain, but i don't think that dealer is marking them up.

Send some up this way, the Huge Caddy/Pontiac/Hummer dealer in Albany has more $70,000 Platinum Escalade ESVs, H1's, XLRs, Custom H2s, than GTOs. The dealer told me they were getting 20 this year, but they never have one on the lot.

I still havn't seen one on the street but yet dealers get them and then they go away quick, I guess we have a lot of garage queen GTOs up here

Colorados and Equinoxs are selling pretty hot up here.

Here's Ford's sales for May.
http://media.ford.com/article_displa...&make_id=trust

Highlights:
*Ford sold 20 more Tauruses than GM sold Impalas.
*Ford's best selling car is the Focus, meaning that Ford has 2 cars that outsel GM's top selling car.
*Chevrolet sold only 400 more cars than Ford despite having higher incentives, more dealers, and argubly better prices.
*Thunderbird sales are down 45%.
*Ford trucks outsold cars by well over a 2 to 1 margin.
*Cadillac CTS outsold Lincoln LS by a 2 to 1 margin.
*Did anyone notice that Mercury produces only 2 cars!
*Volvo is simply laying out SAAB, 11,817 to 3,861.
*If you count Lincoln & Jaguar together (not farfetched when you think about it) it outsells Cadillac.

That's kinda like saying "well Chevy and Pontiac together outsells Ford".

The one thing i find the most interesting is the part about the Taurus. Who the hell buys a Taurus? They have to be going to fleets and company car sales. I have seen so few 04' Taurus' out there and they are not hard to pick out with that new ugly front that was slapped on there. I wonder what the total is for comparison of these cars for the whole year.

The incetives on the Taurus is amazing. My dad picked up 03 Taurus late last year for 10,900 and that was with alarm installed and some other options. My dad couldnt find a deal like that with the Impy.

I've already seen 2 GTOs on the street...black and yellow. Me like yellow

The dealer I used to work for has a silver AT, and not one bite on it yet...had it for almost 60 days...they aren't price gouging either...MSRP will buy it. I'd love it...no AT for me though.

it's sad to see the market share for both Ford and GM continue to decline.

There are a couple of GTO's going for below MSRP near me. They did have mark up for some time, and they had the Red, Impulse Blue, Silver and Black. Only one left is the Impluse blue.

Something to consider:

A lot of people were commenting on how "poorly" the new Grand Prix was selling... now they are EVERYWHERE.

It just takes a little time for new model sales to ramp up for a bevy of reasons.
