Thumbs up Chevy Volt set a sales record in March 2012

March sees record-high Chevy Volt sales with 2,289; Nissan Leaf holds the course with 579

March was the Volts best selling month ever. They out sold the Leaf 4 to 1.

They'd sell double that if the tax credit from the govt was instant. If Obama's $10k instant credit passes in the budget they will be selling like hotcakes. I would have bought one but the whole putting up the money up front and hoping i get it back just wasn't gonna work for me.

Bad press or not. Unfortunetly the best thing for sales of this car is high gas prices.

I agree, this is why leasing is the way to go. Plus I know come 2015 I'd want a Volt 2.0

Pretty much.

It's amazing to see how much the car market shifts when gas prices change by $1 over the year. Not only that, a lot of "speculators" have scared people into thinking this summer we will hit the $5 a gallon mark.

This isn't worth a new thread, IMO, but it is interesting none-the-less....

The Cost of Higher Fuel Economy

I wonder how this will go in the years to come? IMO we are still sorta in the early adopter phase for cars like the Volt. I suppose has hybrids become more mainstream the cost will defintetly come down to where the ROI isn't a big deal.

Re: Chevy Volt set a sales record in March 2012

Any word on when the new budget might come up for a vote? The proposal for increasing the rebate to $10k is in the Presidents new budget as well as making the rebate instant at time of purchase to the dealer. If this passed I would be up there tonight to get a volt but I'm not fronting $42k for one.

The President's budget was voted down last week by the House 414-0, so no, not happening anytime soon.
