Chevy 100: Sneak Peek at the Next Impala?
Velocity HD (formerly Discovery HD Theater) has been airing a special celebrating 100 years of Chevrolet called Chevy 100. I DVR'd it and had a chance to watch it tonight. Very well produced and I highly recommend it to everyone here. Our very own F-Bodfather was featured in it.
Towards the end Ed Welburn gives us a sneak peek of a upcoming Chevy for around 2014/2015. He doesn't say what it is but I was thinking Impala, but I just noticed that this car looks to be a hatchback, so I don't know. I know this is just a mock up, but I am not impressed with the Volvoish rear..............thoughts?

There is lots of behind the scenes looks in this show, lots of shots inside the design studios. I saw a lot of interesting looking artwork and designs in the background.

It looks small and the hood scoop points to performance. Maybe this is why there's no Cruze SS. We might get a completely new hatch. Something like Hyundai did with the Veloster.

Looks too narrow to be an Impala. also, size wise it looks small for a Zeta based car but has the proportions of a RWD so what would the chassis be? Alpha? Just thinking outloud here.
edit: Isn't Alpha supposed to underpin the next Camaro and a Chevy Sedan? 2014/15 timeframe sounds right for the Chevy Alpha Sedan.

In the rear it looks very Audi A7'ish. It would be kinda cool to see the Impala end up with a non-traditional sedan silouette like that. Not too sure what else it could be other than the Impala. It doesnt look like a small car to me, although the greenhouse looks a little narrow.

If they are showing this "unveiling" during a discovery documentary, it will probably be at the auto show in Detroit, on Jan, at the same time as the Dodge Dart unveiling. It does look like a concept, but also looks not too far off from being production ready. Kind of like the camaro keeping fairly true to the concept.

GM is supposed to debut the production ATS, a production Buick baby SUV built on the Gamma platform, and 2 Chevy concept cars in Detroit. Maybe this car will be one of those.
