Corvette Z06 to be renamed Z07, come with twin-turbo V8? - Autoblog
I like this idea, 600HP TT corvette would be awesome, and something new to the Corvette brand.

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
I agree, maybe they will do an "LT4" to this generation of LT1 (although I hope they call it something else since I already think having two LT1s 17 years apart is too soon).

The Z51 cars making the rounds at the various publications sticker for about $70k and are putting out C6 Z06-like performance. There's your Z06 replacement - the Z51.

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
Torque curve is about the same on the LT1 and LS7. I will me the big 427/7.0L V8 though. It was cool to have such a large displacement in the Corvette. I'm glad they are going to keep that engine alive in the Z/28 for 2 more years.

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
I like the idea but think they are putting it in the wrong model.
I think the ZR1 should be the big HP Twin Turbo V8.
Keep the Z06 or Z07 N/A. I like the idea of a higher revving more displacement LT engine.
Slotted between the base/Z51 and the ZR1. Which IMO should push the envelope even further in the C7. 700-750 hp

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
Unless I am badly mistaken a 7.0 Gen V will probably not happen. I read a bunch of stuff that the 4.125 bore made it difficult to burn the charge competely enough to pass emissions. As those standards tighten, it will get more difficult (perhaps impossible). I hope I am wrong, I want to see a 7.0 Gen V, but would not hold my breath.

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
That's the problem with large bores, increased dead space with conventional fuel delivery systems. IIRC that's one of the reasons the LS1 had a less than 4" bore.

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
According to GM press releases, there are plans for four Gen. V engines. The 4.3L V6, 5.3L V8 and two versions of the 6.2L V8. I assume the two 6.2L are the LT1 and the coming LTx TT 6.2L. Or would the other version of the 6.2 just be a detuned version for trucks?

Re: 2015 Corvette Z07
With the move of the performance build center to Bowling Green, I assume all higher performance Gen Vs will be built there.
