2015 Corvette Z06 Priced at $78,995

Surprised considering the C6 ZR1 was over $100K, and this Z06 should have the same if not better performance. But of course you are not going to see any $79K Z06 on the dealer lots. Plus the Z07 Performance pkg. adds $7,995 and then the optional carbon fiber ground effects pkg. adds another $2,995.

So the question remains, is this going to be the top performance model for the C7 or is a new ZR1 coming? I would have rather seen the Z06 model stay to its roots, being lighter weight with a large NA powerplant. Then have a forced induction ZR1.

We don't have curb weight on the Z06 yet, do we? I have a feeling that despite the supercharger, it's going to be surprisingly light.

191 lbs heavier than the C6 ZR1. Okay, so that makes me dead wrong. It's heavier than my Camaro. (Not that I'm not calling it overweight or anything; I'm just surprised. I'd give my left nut for one of these.)

The base C7 weights 90 pounds more than a base C6, so it appears that there's 90 pounds of extra weight inherent to the platform. Perhaps due to transmissions with more ratios, added interior tech, etc.

That leaves 101 lbs unexplained difference between the old ZR1 and the new Z06, and the only significant difference I know of is the new aero package. I have a hard time seeing a carbon fiber splitter and spoiler adding up to 101 lbs.

What else is in there weighing this thing down?
