Re: 2014 Chevy Silverado Teaser...
GM is starting out with the gen V V8 to go up against Ford's Ecoboost. They are shooting for similar power but I don't think they'll come close to the Ecoboost's 420tq. A twin turbo V6 is in development but no word yet if it will end up in the trucks. The 8 speed auto won't come until the second year.

Re: 2014 Chevy Silverado Teaser...
When I bought my ('09) Sierra it was at the time the best choice since Ford still had the 4.6/5.4 which I thought were a bit dated given the power/fuel economy. Now I feel the same way about the current offerings in the GM variants, if I had to replace my truck today, I am not sure I would buy another. I have heard rumors of a eco boost competitor from both GM and Toyota but what I would really like to see is a 1500 with a diesel again. Looking forward to seeing these new trucks, I plan to try and get 3 years or so more from my current Sierra then replace it with another truck or perhaps a Tahoe.

I should have mentioned that I was referring to the 5.3. Truck engines are usually tuned for low end torque so it will probably have high 300s hp and tq. The 6.2 will still also be available but it should also have more focus on torque so power should be lower than the LT1.
