What combo

What combo
For people that are getting or that are interested in going to an open track day or an auto x event, what suspention combos are y'all running. I know the nice thing about this type of racing is that you do not need to really do anything and still be faster "out of the box" than the mustangs but like many aspects of this addiction, we have to make it better. I have not found to much on the 94-02 camaros to setup for these type of events. Any links or setups would be great, pics a plus of the front camber and parts. Now that I can not sell my car and have been wanting to do this type of racing, that is what I am going to do. I will be setting my car up like a CMC car a little at a time and still be able to do some track events at VIR next year. Any help would be great for me and the next guy that is sick of waiting at the dragstrip for hours to get two of three passes. Thanks, Buck

go to www.stranoparts.com. Call sam strano. He has done well with f bodies and suspensions.
I would start with Sam's springs, Sam's and rear sway bars, and koni 4/4 shocks. After that something like 17x11's all the way around would be nice.
Or just get some race rubber.

For CMC, springs, shocks, panhard bar and rear control arms are basically your only options.
If I was starting out, I'd call Sam, get springs (500-650 lbs/in fr, 200ish r) and have him revalve some Bilstein HDs to go with.
PHB and control arms with spherical bushings would be next, but should probably be closer to when you're track only.

Thanks! This is going to be a track only car. Fully gutted with two seats. The car is a great car but I have no use for it being on the road and I have tried to sell it with no luck. So this is plan B. The first thing is going to be rebuild the motor back to factoryish specs and slap a M6 in it. Sell all the supercharger stuff, pistons, rods, cam and start from there. In my area we have a bunch of guys that ace CMC with there mustangs and only a few camaro's. bsim, your right that is about all you can change and that is why I like it. Its not cheap but it won't kill you pocket. Thanks again. Buck

spherical bushings or roded ended parts are going to be the best for handling. They will be louder than a stock part, they will rattle, etc. But for a car with this purpose i dont think you ll mind. Especially with the corning carving capabilities this car will have.
Wait till you drive it at 2800 or 3000 pounds. Feels light as a feather. Get a extra set of rims with race rubber that will make the biggest difference. Once you have it down to 2900 and have 17x11 on all four corners it will handle like a zo6 vette.

yes but I believe that the CMC class only allows a 16x8 max in it. Not 100% sure but I think that I read that in the rules. Trust me I believe it would be great but I want to stick to learning on how to push what is allowed. Thanks again! Buck
