Coil problems..HELP!!

Just bought the car and it had a horrible miss above 5,000rpms. i noticed at night that the coil wire was arching. So I replaced the coil wire to start....then I replaced the plugs and wires. Now I noticed the coil it self was arching arround its self and the miss was still present but not as bad as it was. Well the coil was not grounded so I hooked up the OEM ground to it and it still was arching to its self. Figured maybee It destroyed its casing with the bad ground so I replaced the coil again. STILL ARCHING!!!

From what I know is that spark will find the path of least resistance...SO HERE WE GO... COIL+COIL WIRE+OPTI. Well COil and coil wire are new so Im thinking that the cap and rotor of the opti (HIGH RES SIDE) is failing and causing this problem?? Should I replace the opti..could it be the ICM??

PLEASE HELP!!!

I had a low RPM miss and it turned out to be the wires. I also noticed my coil arcing around the metal case. But it doesnt cause anything to miss. So what I did was detatch the coil from the engine and started it. Then I held the coil (with my ruber glove) so it wasn't touching anything. I figured that since it was grounding to anything that the spark would have to go through the coil wire or back to the module. The coil still arched!! This was with a brand new MSD coil that I had just bought. My old coil did this as well, thats why I replaced it. But in hind sight it was the #7 plug wire all along. My coil still archs but it doenst miss. So I would say it might be the opti. From what I've heard, your module eiter works or it doesnt.
Hope Ive helped
