cutting my filter boxes

i have read in the tpis book that taking out screens and cutting out some of your air filter box will help with flow i have the screens out, but i was wandering how much to cut out of the box, if you have any pics that would be great or you could just tell me, that would be fine also, also i am doing the ram air system through my fog lights so i want to leave a little bit on there to connect my tubing to, thanks to all that respond!

I cut the baffles out of my 5.7 92 Z and gained .250 seconds in the 1/4 mile. I went from a 14.5 to a 14.25. I cut about 2 inches below the top then made a ram air set up that went into the fog light openings with sheet metal. The only thing you have to watch out for is deep water. I kept the stock air filters in place. I ran with and without the filters and did not notice a difference at the track. Good luck.

Just remove the four semi-round baffles below the air filters would be the only thing I would do. Also I would throw that TPIS book away before you get into some problems.

1)Do Not Descreen your Maf Sensor.
2) Do Not remove your air filters
3) Do Not start chopping away at you air box.

The TPI engine is already limited to the amount of air by the ECM
and you will be wasting your time.

TPIS knows what they're doing...they've been around since the inception of TPI and know very well how things work and what works and what does not. Flow benches do not lie and the tests that result do not either.

Tell me where it says that you should run your car WITHOUT air filters? Tell me why gutting your stock air box would NOT be beneficial to performance, other than if you decided to cross a river in your car.

Note, what does TPIS say about the ECM or did they forget about it???? Well...in this case you get what you pay for. And what's 'funny' is that they don't seem to have a problem selling their prodcuts at "INFLATED PRICES." Whether you choose to buy, or not...doesn't really matter.

Funny how you ignore what I said too about the air boxes being a problem when they're gutted.:rolleyes:

And wth are you saying about them forgetting about the ECM? You're not making any sense.
