2001 Z: Options are Rear window defrost, Monsoon stereo, MN6/Hurst. That is all. I have a borla cat back and Sub frame connectors and BMR STB. The weight was taken with everything in it (including spare and jack), NO one in the car and the low gas light just poped on about 5 miles ago. And the weight is......

3360lbs I think the scale is correct because I am 160 lbs and when I got in, it went right up to 3520lbs. So, what do you think? Light, heavy or right where I should be. Remember...basically stock with different cat back, SFC and strut tower brace with about 2.5 gallons of gas in her.

That seems about right. With about 100 pounds of weight removal, my Formula (without me in it) with a 1/4 tank of gas weighed 3290... :)

The LT1 engine (the main weight difference, if I recall correctly) is about 50 pounds heavier in weight, so for two cars with the exact same options, the 97 will be slightly heavier.

well, I think body weight is personal preference. Are you where you think you should be?? lol jk
Yeah that sounds right for that car but i did think it was a little bit heavier than that.

I guess that sounds about right for a hardtop w/ the 1SC option.

Good to know, I'd imagine that I should be right around there...maybe 15-20 lbs. more. I'll have to weigh it next time I'm at the track.

Yup.. mines a tad bit heavier but I cant own a Z without T-Tops..
Other than the T-Tops, I have the same options as you.. all standard and just the hurst and rear defogger..

3490 with 12.5 gallons of gas (est..)
all my usual stuff in car (helmet and tools(about 5 lbs worth) and spare and jack of course.. so I am happy with its svelt weight..

That seems a little light. My car is loaded and is an A4 and it weighs around 3,500 lbs., give or take a few pounds. Look inside your driver's door jamb for the car's GVWR. Take that number and subtract it from the maximum weight the vehicle can carry (also listed on the door jamb), and that's how much your car weighs.

Yeah, that's possible. When I was moving out of my dorm and getting ready for the trek home, I weighed my dad's truck with EVERYTHING I crammed in there to see if I was over GVW, it cost me $6.00 and it tells you how much weight is on the drive axle and the steer axle.

Go to a grain elevator and ask them if you can weigh your car. Since they are not to busy this time of year I doubt they would care.:D

I was telling a friend that my 00 SS weighed about 3300 lbs. He said "No, check the door, it will tell you the car weight on it."

I check it, and it says 4200. WHAT THE F*CK!? That 01' z just weighed in at about 3300. What's the difference? Or is the door lying?

I have worked on computer systems used at heavy vehicle weigh stations.

Cars will weigh just as well at the stations as big rigs do. Remember they are calibrated to fine for carrying even a small amount over the legal weight.

That 4,200 is your car's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), it's how much your car can safely carry. Every vehicle has a GVWR, from F-350s to Kias.

Here's how you compute your car's weights, I'll do mine to show you.

GVWR 4,238
payload 701
______________________
weight of car 3,537

There are 3 sticker in your driver's door jamb, the one up top is your parts I.D. sticker. The two at the bottom are your weights. On the first one, it lists your GVWR to the left, and to the right, it lists how much weight your vehicle can carry, just do what I just showed you and you'll find out how much your car weighs.

As you can tell my sig, i'm a newbie. :\
You will find, if you search through my posts, that I ask the typical noob questions. I've had my car for about 1 1/2 months now, and i've been racing for about 4 weeks. I've been to the race tracks two times, so I think i'm doing pretty good

The pops thing wasn't meant to make you out as being old, it was just my word choice ;p
