So I painted my Rear Bumper CETA style!
So I painted my Rear Bumper CETA style!
I painted my rear bumper Collector's Edition Trans Am style. I also used black-out paint for my third brake light and rear turn signals. What does everyone think? I think it totally completes my black/red scheme....now all I need is some CETA or GS wheels!

Thank you all very much, I appreciate the compliments a lot!
I think it turned out great as well, and I am pretty happy to report that I haven't seen any other T/A's with a painted bumper like that, save the CETA's of course.

Looks great.
Is your side moulding strip painted black? It kind of look like it in a couple of those pics. If it is, I don't think it looks right. Takes away from the lines of the car and look kind of "cheap." Just MHO. But the rear panel and blacked out markers/signals looks great.

Thanks for the replies!
As for the paint I used a few different things. I first went very lightly and wet sanded the section with 400 gritt sand paper, until I got everything pretty well scuffed up, then I wiped everything down with alcohol, and masked off pretty much the rest of the car...the whole car was covered, I didnt want ANY over spray, so I laid towels over everything. I then sprayed on a coat of flat primer, wet sanded that down again, and rewiped alcohol. Then went on the black paint, I went with a semi-gloss Black Paint, Acrylic...did many coats of that, then sprayed 5 or 6 coats of clear. It only took me a few hours...the hardest part was corecctly masking it all off. All the paint was Home Depot bought Spray Paint.
And Yeah I have the doormolding painted....I have to disagree i really like it, it really brings everything together in my opinion. Here is a side shot, though this is the car a long while ago...you will notice the new hood wasnt on, as well as no black outs.... among other things...but it gives you an idea.
I also have the Trans Am Overlays, Pontiac Inlay, Bumper Bird Inlay, and Sail Panel Birds...all black.

Thanks

nicely done....clap clap...bravo!!
although i think i would personally remove the side molding from the doors instead of painting htem black...just a thought...
but it all looks nice...
looks like you need a nice set of chromed/polished exhaust tips to further accent the bumper...

Thankyou for the replies again!
And believe me, I will remove all exterior molding when and if I get my car painted...I would like to have it all black, and keep the black outs all around, in that case I would remove the door molding, Trans Am and Firebird Emblems. I would not use any contrasting color, just a complete stealth car.
I agree I need new tips, I am using Meg's tips, but its hard to see them, I really just want stock 98+ WS6 tips or some similiar...I am just working on funds.
Thanks
Nathan
