successful weekend of fishing with a fellow Fbody guy

just wanted to send out a BIG THANKS to 2002Z28SSConv for bringing his boat down the the keys for a weekend of productive fishing.

we spent about 24 hours over the course of 3 days fishing, catching TONS of fish. we got into a nice hardbottom mound that was 17" deep surrounded by 22"+ of water and managed to destroy the Grouper. between the two of us we probably landed over 25 grouper on friday, and with the help of another friend John, we landed even more on Saturday. included in that was one nice KEEPER red grouper which tasted very good that nite.

we also learned a valuable lesson, don't hang a chum bag over the side 10 miles into the gulf. in about an hour we were surrounded by 5 large bullsharks...couple were pushing 8feet long! they were ferocious and kept nailing our catch before we could get them to the boat...breaking the leaders in the process.
just wanted to shout out a thanks...
anyone else have a boat and want to go fishing??

Hey, you're very welcome Jeff. But don't forget about all of the snapper, hog fish and mackerel too. We can forget about all the grunts if you'd like. ;) All in all, I have to say that I caught more fish in a three day period than I have in my entire life. The keys can't be beat when it comes to fishing. And Marathon is my favorite of all of the islands.

BTW - just so everyone knows, I still don't think Jeff would have been able to catch that big grouper if I hadn't wore him down the day before. He shattered one of my fishing poles and snapped the line on Friday. On saturday, Jeff was able to bring him in. My circle hook and leader were still firmly imbedded in his lip. :D lol

yeah OK chuck....that hook and measly leader wore him out....right!!! :D

yeah i forgot about the mackeral...chuck got the only one for the weekend :bow:...i almost had a really nice one with my speargun but he managed to escape from the prongs of the 60" spear!!! oh well.

the couple small Hogfish that i managed to shot with my gun sure made a nice appitizer before the delicious Grouper sandwiches...

sometime i'll have to try to make it up towards melbourne/indian river area and get out fishing with ya chuck...that way it's not such a long drive...

oh by the way...i look forward to some of the pics...either scanned or hardcopies...whichever is easier

i've got a chick (booty call) coming down this weekend so i'm thinkin i may work her for a little extra action by cookin up the other grouper fillet. :D

either that or just get her drunk...lol

got the numbers, thanks...can't wait for john to make it down here with his boat so that we can do some for fishing.

funny side note:
we lucked out with the weather, this week has been constant 10-15+ mph winds, and scattered rain, expected to continue all weekend...

hell i already know it's worth it...well kindda...

with her it isn't wake up to breakfast in bed...it's wake up to head in bed!!!

too bad for the damn console in the middle of the Z...otherwise there'd be plenty of road head as well...
