Installing vortech supercharger on 118,xxx LT1?
A buddy of mine has the vortech supercharger that was on his 95 z28 and since he blew his headgaskets his car has been under construction. He's willing to sell me everything for 1k-1.5k. I have a 94 z28 and I would love to put it on the juice, but with my miles should I be worried? I was thinking of running 5-6 pounds of boost. The car is in really good shape right now, no problems whatsoever. Its only a two owner car (first was a female) with the mileage from commuting. Should I be worried about anything? What would my compression be like after installing the supercharger? Around here 91 octane is as good as it gets at the pumps. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I would say go ahead and get it but dont go over 5lbs if you need the car everyday if you break something it will most likely be the pistons and that would put your car down for a while and with juice I feel I am safe at a 150 but who knows when and if it will go I have 106,5XX miles on mine and have been spraying it alot lately. my buddie has a 94 Fourmula and put a s/c on it supose to be a 6-8lbs but it blew the ring lands apart. know he has it rebuilt and a boost gauge it shows 12lbs
whitout a pully change
so keep the boost low and have it tuned you should be fine but anything can happen I always cross my fingers when I spray...Kinda hard to steer when doing that
but it has worked for me ...

I've heard the rings are first to go on a blown stock LT1..
If I were you, I'd get the kit, run 6psi, then when the rings blow, re-ring them with tougher blower rings... along with some new pistons and rods of course

The problem is blowers are very tempermental. I have seen people you absolutely beat the crap out of their car get 3 years out of their stock motor while I have seen people get a few days out of their stock motor. The most important factor to look at is tuning.
