1 3/4" full length headers, sbc

Hey guys. Who makes 1 3/4" full length headers for a third gen for a small block? I know Hooker does, but they are expensive. Anyone else? Thanks.

You can pretty much buy any of the full lenght for chevy small blocks. FLP makes a great set that includes cats and off road pipes or Groytahon(sp) makes some of my favorite they will all fit but lose a lot of ground clearence which personaly i dont care about for the performance. JMO

SLP does but they're also pricey.
You know 1 5/8" headers can support around 450 HP...
The gain with 1 3/4"ers may only be 10-15HP peak, not really worth the hassle to me.
You might have to go with 1 3/4"shorties to keep the price down.
Flowtech makes 1 5/8" headers for $89.95 !...
good luck!

Headers

I have an extra set. Is your exhaust stock otherwise? Mine are made by Flowmaster, but there are two sizes. Stock and for 3 " collectors. The extra ones I have are for stock exhaust. $40.00 and you pay shipping to Calgary via greyhound(cheap).

Casper is wrong. Most generic longtubes will NOT clear the front subframe on either side of the engine.....this is why the major header companies make headers specifically for the 3rd gen F-body. Ground clearance is also an issue, but it's trivial if the headers won't even make it past the frame.

Yep, all of that is totally incorrect.

Hooker is the only company that currently makes 1 3/4" LTs for thirdgens. And Mufflex makes a Y-pipe for them but it doesn't leave much for ground clearance. I have heard that TPIS is working on a set.... .

Please refrain from posting unless you know the information you are putting out is correct.

Right now I have Hooker 1 5/8" shorties with a 2.5" Y-pipe, into a single 3" pipe with a single 3" Hooker Aerochamber muffler, no cats. The motor was a 355 with RPM heads, RPM intake, 750 carb. But I am going to Victor Junior heads, solid roller cam, victor junior intake. I wanted 1 3/4" LTs, with a custom short dual exhaust with X-pipe and bullet mufflers.

Hooker headers are a little pricy, but remember...you pay for what you get! I just installed the longtubes (1 3/4) on my 84 and had 3" pipes with an X pipe and Hooker Max Flow's ...True duals ....it was a large difference from my 1 5/8 Heddman shoties !!! Not even flopping on the throttle (gradual acceleration) ....and the tires light up !!!!
