I was going to go with the Edlebrock Performer because I've had success in the past, but it just dawned on me that the Performer doesn't have a provision for an oil fill tube. I wanted to use my stock Chevrolet-script valve covers, but I'm not prepared to punch a hole in them.
Other than the stock cast-irom GM Q-jet intake, are there any decent alternatives with the the oil fill tube hole?

None that I'm aware of unless you find an old aftermarket intake at a swap meet that happens to take a QJet and has the oil fill tube.

agreed. swap meet stuff, 1967or so was the last year for that style oil inlet,
i would put on newer style intake,and change the valve covers,or;buy one to add the pcv valve to..

Should work if you're willing to go that far. Even later blocks still have the little semi-circle in the front block wall that the oli fill tubes used to mate up with.
I'm looking at a picture of an Edlebrock Performer for early style heads (86 or older) and it almost looks like there's a little flat, round spot in front of the water jacket right where the fill tube would normally go, but it isn't machined with the appropriate hole. Might be a simple drilling operation.

I'm probably going with the Performer and say screw the stock valve covers.
