I Found one at a local {40 min. drive} for $80,i had to pull it,
I saved $50 by pulling it,myself,and it was worth the aprox 1.5 hours time,besides the drive,to and from the yard.

Thanks for looking! :D :)

a 9 inch ready to bolt in now i need a "pumpkin"
posi, 3.42/ 3.50,/3.55/3.73 gears would be great!

Thanks!

You can pick up a pumpin at the junkyard from a 1/2 ton truck. A lot of these come with 3.50 gears. Look for 3L5 on the tag. The L means posi. 3.5 would be an open diff. If you can't find a posi ham, buy a no posi one and exhange the open unit for a posi. Super easy to do on 9 inchers due to there being adjusters on each side. You don't have to use side shims like on 10 & 12 bolts to set the backlash and preload.

Around here a 9" pumpkin w/o posi goes for about 25 bucks at the recycler.

must be nice to have a junkyard/recycler that does not think used parts are made of gold, :(

It is!:D

Around here vehicles don't rust into oblivion. So when they get wrecked, they are still scavangeable. Which leads to a good supply of parts, which lowers prices. I had a 2nd gen 10 bolt disc posi diff get away from me last year at one of the yards. 150 bucks, complete. It was a U Pull It type place, and I didn't have the necessary tools with me. Guy wouldn't take a deposit to hold it, so another wrenchhead beat me to the score.:(

in 1976/77 i lived in Midland, TX
halfway to Odessa was a scrap/junkyard,mostly into scrapping metal,
you could go on the scale,go scrounge parts,and get weighed out;
and pay by the pound..
if I knew then what i know now!!!! :(
