Yeah I know I am broke but may be willing to take out a small loan...

what do you guys think of these?

the high miles worry me a bit but they are more reasonably priced then I thought, may even be able to talk some people down. At the moment I got about $1,000 will have to look at what banks can do for me.

6-speed would be nice, and I am thinking t-tops are a must(I am on my 2nd f-body and never had them)

also post what you guys have... I know I am on the cheap side but hey, I DO have movie passes ;)

1996 Z-28, adult owned, 6-speed, PS, PW, PDL, Bose CD, Borla exhaust, T-Tops, Leather, Eibach springs, Hurst shifter, new clutch, new opti-spark, new plugs and wires, BBS Moda rims, Potenza 275-40-17's, underdrive pulley, cold air induction. Car fax report available. Excellent condition, call 407-699-8904. Price - $7,850 Additional pictures can be seen at

I liek the 1st one. Black + leather + 6 speed + T-Tops + Basic mods =  :metal: :metal:

I would see if you can talk it down to $7500.

I find it funny how you still see the "Corvette engine" marketign scheme beign used in soem ads.

As for banks, check Fairwinds, they aproved me a Loan for Trade In value on a Z28 as long as it didnt pass $7000. On top of that it was a 6.85% loan. Too bad I didn thave the diference between the trade in vlaue and the rest of the fees. You already have $1000, so that could realy help out.

I had $900, but I felt shor by 500 or so due to dealer fee and taxes.

BTW, they use NADA book value.

HMMMM wait a minute!! That guy is on this Board, or used to be. He lives in the neighborhood my Ex GF lives in. I seen his cars before, and I recognize the street.

At one point they had 4 LT1's in the houshold lol. All seem to be well taken care of.

Yeah Anderson, you're right. I recognize the driveway too. That's the house I got my 4 TA swirly wheels from. The guy's board name is Erik 94TransAm.

I agree too BTW. This is definately the one I would go for. It's just a bit more but looks well taken care of. The guy might be a board member. It already has all the mods on it to keep you happy for a long time. And you'll be in GTP when you come out to MSCC again. :D I can alsways use more championship points for having more competition. :p

The payment isn't gonna be that much more and it's a beauty!

I'm very very sorry, but the first one is my dads car and is sold-he is actually going to take the car off right now. It's funny, when he put the car in autotrader (and I put a post on the board), nobody sounded interested and he got just a few phone calls. The guy that bought it from his was the original owner and did all the mods (most of them anyways). My dad bought it w/20K miles in late 1996, and ever since the guy traded the camaro in (on a gtp) he wish he had the car back. So when he came to look at the car he had cash in hand and was excited to get the car. Anyways, I wish I could of helped you out, I would have told him to cut you a deal too since your a board member. Sorry

Erik

Edit: he sold it for $7,250--he seriously had like 2 phone calls the first 2 weeks it was up for sale, since then he has had a few more but not too many (i finally removed his ad b/c he couldn't figure out how to).

LOL right after we get him all exited .. WHAM !!! the facts set in.

Thats what happened to the first Z28 I almsot got. it was realy nice, but I was short. The dealer askem me if they coul try to run the lona from them at probably 9%, but liek and ass I said I'll wait till I get fina confirmation from fairwinds on what exactly they meant by "trade in value". I needed a set price. That was on a friday. I go to Fairwinds the next day,a nd I get the facts, so I get hoem and call my firend to tak eme back to the dealer where it was at. I called, and they had sold it that night I was there :(

lol, so I moved donw my list of cars.

Hey Erik, who's Supra was that that I saw liek 3 or 4 days ago?

I like the 3rd one as well. 95 is the 'prefered' year should you ever want to do a cam or other serious mods. First year for the vented optispark and last year for OBD I.

FWIW it seems the automatics dont make it much past 100k before needed a rebuild. Or at least it seems that way. You'll need to replace the clutch on a 6 speed with that kind of milage (if it hasnt been done already) but clutches are alot cheaper.

i'd sell mine for $10k, i want an LS1 :)

damn, have z28 prices gone up THAT much? i got mine for 8300 out the door at a DEALER and my z28 had 55k miles. i wouldn't pay more than 6k for a z28 with more than 90k or 100k miles

last i saw z28 prices and fbody prices in general were plummiting. has this trend reversed?

Whats would you say teh price range is for a new clutch? $500?

also do you think 109k, is overboard?

KBB is showing ~$6400 for the car. Seems very high for the mileage.

KBB is showing ~$6400 for the car. Seems very high for the mileage.

You can get a clutch from SLP that's pretty decent for ~$350 (this is what I have). After you resurface the flywheel and replace a few other things you should do while you're down there (rear main seal, pilot bushing) you're looking at a little over $400 if you do the work yourself.

Considering I bought my car with 118K on it I dont see a problem with 109k, lol... Obviously less is better but if its well taken care of I dont think its a problem.

I always thought KBB was a little high myself. IMO I would pay ~5500 for the car, maybe 6k if it were really mint.

none of those really have what you want, t-tops and 6spd. the formula would be pretty cool, black would look good. you could take off any formula decals and some may think your a six. that last t/a is just plain ugly. good luck on getting a car. make sure you get what you want instead of rushing on something just b/c its a v8.

I must be the only person glad to not have t-tops.... Yes they are nice, but also a pain on a high mileage car... Sub Frames would be a must ASAP, INMO...

Buy a V8... I love mine and would never go back to a 6. Yes the six was nice, I had tons of fun and was a good value, but never again unless it came with a stick and a super..

I would prefer a 6-speed, t-top car but I have had problems finding those in the past. The 3rd camaro is still a possibility... I wish that formula was a t-tops, looks like a nice deal.

Hmm a nice deal, soild running car, but dosen't have t-tops should not be a reson to toss it out of the run.. Test Drive it first, then make the choice.. Ya t-tops are nice ,but image t-tops with as many passes as your 3.4, what was it like 137 passes on the 3.4 car... Plus autocrossing... Imagine that torqued and twisted frame....

If you find a car you REALLY want, and doesn't have t-tops you could always do a t-top conversion. I am thinking about doing it to mine, but don't know if I have the balls to do it or not. I want it to look stock if I do it-and not have everyone know i chopped my roof off. Maybe I can do it and then sell you my car and look for a LS1 :)

I know what you mean about having hte balls to do it. Some people on this list make it seem that its no harder than doing header installs (or so they make it seem). But I saw the pics and write up and there is no way I'm gona hack my roof liek that.

As for the getting t-tops, I am not sure I am going to take my car ot the extremes I did the 3.4L. I have 137 timeslips, and maybe abotu 20 more, I ahv elsot or laying around somewhere else.

You need to kill most of those CC's. That is potential debt that the credit people will notice and count against you. Also, Go to www.peoplefirst.com and get you a loan. They have some of the best rates and great service. Will get approved by a phone call 15 minutes after you apply and they will have the check to you in a day or 2. Both my wife and I have loans through them. You will need good credit though. I think $7500 is the minimum amount you can get though.

goal10dr add 2K to your 10K loan now and own a ls1 running 13's all day long and spend 3K and run 12's all day and still be faster day in and day out with a new ride and get more miles out of the engine? Or spend 3-4 k less and get a lt1 running 13's alll day

MustangEater82 hehe you are not the slowest... I have come across a few 3.4Ls slower then you...
well i think if i learn how to launch at the track i could improve my times a lot. even though my car doesn't make a whole lot of power, it still spins the one wheel like a mofo at the track.

BTW I saw your car at Waterford today, next to Crispers, looks even better in the daylight...

agreed, potential debt counts against you... just get one card with like a $500 limit and then have another backup one also with a low limit. cancel the rest of the cards.

in my humble opinion, which is by no means correct, i'd get rid of all your cards and just keep one with a 1.5k - 2k limit.

i have one credit card, visa, and its got a limit of 1,700 or something dunno they keep raising it

yes

if not you can threaten to cancel your card and then just sign up for another card that will only give you a lesser limit, then they'd lower it.

and if they don't, just cancel the card and get a new one, no biggie

Hmm dont "get rid" or your cards, just the debt maybe. I was denied a few years ago form Wash Mutual for not havign enough credit cards (needed 4 had 3).

Jsut look into it.

as of today, less then $75 in debt on 2 of them... as of tomorrow or the next day, zero balance on 2 of them, the one has been paid off on time for 4 yers straight, and its less then $200 on it.

only carried a balance over a month once.

Any idea which bank might give a better loan?

Bank of america
Washington Mutual, I am a member to both..

My best deal woudl be Broward county Crit union(mom is a teacher, I have an account with $25 in it to get me a credit card through their bank)

My parents have done jsut about every loan they have taking out in the last 10-14 years thorugh them, because of the rates... thing is its not local...

Cash on hand, I could take out in one day closing accounts is over $2k.

they sometimes ask how much money a month I receive from parents, shoud I take books and help with tuition for the year and devide by 12? got the total help from parents total last year in fornt of me on my tax info.

Hmm with out paystubs I'mnot sure how they will look at it. You might have to ask your parents a if they could take hte loan and you pay them. Not realy sure how banks works when makign loans.
