solid roller lifter HELP needed !

got a 383 with a crower .950 small base circle solid roller cam. this is in a late model block (87-95) with the taller lifter bores. i see comp cams sells lifters 883 and 893. 883 is .300" longer than standard lifter and 893 is supposed to work with small base circle cams.

since i have a combination of both, i need to know what lifter to order.

i measured the length needed from base circle to top of lifter bore which is 2.520". i am not sure if either of these lifters "vertical linking bar" will still hit the top of the lifter bore. anyone have any suggestions or information. i need to get this ordered asap. this is the only thing holding me up from wrapping up this beast.

If you are using an LT1/LT4 block:

Comp cams Endure-X (CCA-888-16)
or
Crane 11522-16

Both are great lifters that have been used in LTx motors with great results

Concerning use of the Comp Endure-X vs. the Crane Solid roller lifter difference, do you know of any reason to go with the Endure-X over the crane's as there is about a $150 difference in price. Does one require the use of an oil restricter or do a better job of valvetrain stability or longevity than the other? Thanks.

actually, not an LT1 block (i don't think), but still a late model block. the casting numbers is

14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam
one-piece rear seal

also, any idea what the dimensions are from roller tip to bottom of link bar (vertical link bar not spring loaded lifters). i have 2.520" from cam base circle to top of lifter bore. can anyone confirm the .300" taller lifters dimensions?

You can also machine down the lifter bore and use a standard size lifter.:cool:

ouch. just got 2k worth of machine work done and engine is in car. not coming back out :-)

i'd duck tape two lifters together before that. :-)

the 11522s should work. I would stay away from the endurax. Ihave seen SEVERAL come appart.

I have run 11522s with a <.900 base circle cam in an LTX block NP

The 883 will clear.

You will also need shorter pushrods most likely, but that's not a bad thing.

Having a pushrod checker is always a good idea.

As Jordon said, the 11522s are good...I use them in my motor as well. I have never personally seen anyone have problems with the EndureX lifters, but Jordon has so I am not sure what the story is on them. All of the applications that I have seen them used in have worked well.

The EndureX have an extra oiling groove in them, whereas the 11522s do not. Are they worth the $150 extra? Mabye....but I went with the 11522s and have not regreted it one bit.

one more thing. i see crane makes a 11552 which is the horizontal linking.

which do you guys think is better. vertical linking (with the spring for easy cam changes) or the horizontal linking.

11522 is around 280.00
11552 is around 380.00

the price difference worth anything. different quality or durability?
