My friend told me that there is only 2 cams for LS1's, an F1 and a LG, is that true?97firechicken 03-05-2003, 11:15 AM Pretty much what the subject said, i disagree but i want some proof, plus is $2,000 good for a cam and install? PhantomTA 03-05-2003, 11:22 AM 2000.00 is way overpriced.. also Between comp cams, lunati and crane there has to be 30-40ish off the shelf cams.... not to mention the countless combination of custom grinds.. i dont think you could sit down and actually count the different combinations possible.. and yes guys there are way more cams avail. than a thunder 224 or an x1 etc... your friend is a damn moron 97firechicken 03-05-2003, 11:43 AM HAHAHA well i was trying to tell him that, even tho i have an LT1 i still know some things, but he just came back and said oh yea there are more kinds, but he is on LS1.com and there is a new LG cam that is suppose to be a bada$$ cam, but i wanted to yalls thoughts. What would yall think the best cam is? PhantomTA 03-05-2003, 12:24 PM there is no best, it varies so much on setup and use of the car that its impossible to have 1 best cam.. again the combinations are nearly endless 97firechicken 03-05-2003, 12:34 PM ok for almost all the bolt-ons what would yall recommend for a very good cam? hehe how about that way of putting it? PhantomTA 03-05-2003, 12:52 PM depends.. lol 6speedZ28 03-05-2003, 12:56 PM My friend Louis Gigliotti (son of the owner of LG motorsports) just got the new G5X-2 cam....very awsome cam. He used to run the G5X-1. Anyways back to the original question their are alot of cams available for LS1's. I myself since I am on a college student budget and gonna go with the LS1 hotcam kit. Lopes really good with 112lsa :D 97firechicken 03-05-2003, 01:04 PM Yea thats the cam that he was talking about. there really isnt a great deal about budget, but i wanted to show him that there are other good cams out there. and thats why i am here asking yall cause, im not to sure the exact names, and where to get them. stik6shift98 03-05-2003, 05:57 PM 2k is wy toooooo much ls1speed is offering a special at 850 installed :D www.ls1speed.com chuck 03-05-2003, 08:23 PM There are a LOT of cams for LS1's, from mild to wild. I have a Thunder TR220/114 cam (mild) that I really like for a daily driver / weekend warrior. 97firechicken 03-06-2003, 09:09 AM hehe thats what i thought, $2000 for cam and install, hell there should be alot more to install. thanks, but what is everyones opinion on a fast cam? XKnightRider 03-06-2003, 11:43 AM There are MANY variables, what RPM you are comforatable reving the engine to? Is emissions a concern? What gears you have? How do you want the car to idle? Are you using any power adders(SC, Turbo, N20) down the road. Call a cam company like COMP, they will ask you quesitons and help you determine what cam is best for you application. | ||
