Black cloud over me now?

On my way home from work driving my SS today, instead of the beater. Well it desides to break some valve springs and suck a couple valves. Just what I need right now. I guess I will be build a 383 stroker real soon. Hope to get it done for the begining of this season. I think the block will be ok. Will know more when I get the motor out. Right now I just took off the valve covers. Anybody know of any good kits to buy and where. Thanks John

Okay, how did this happen? How many miles are on your SS? I keep my Z in storage at least 6 months out of the year, Ive got 76K miles on my 94...were you really beating on it? Best of Luck with the issue.

John... that really sux bro. I'm curious to know what happened myself. What valve springs did you put on there? They dont have alot of miles on them at all.... Maybe thats why your MPH was low at the end of last year... maybe there was an issue with the springs and they were floating the valves up top. Anyway, good luck bro, if you need a hand with anything you got my number.

I doubt it if you damaged the block. More than likely you just broke the piston and the head on that side. If the head is really bad, let me know. I was thinking of porting a set myself and a trashed head would work good to learn on. But only if the head is no good. Being aluminum it probably is...

Call if you need help

I don't know exactly waht happen, but there is about 3 valve springs on the drivers broke. They are double springs and I don't remember what kind they are off the top of my head. They where suppose to be good till .600 lift. A bunch of valve seal springs are laying all in the top of the head. We will see what happened when I pull more apart.

Sorry to hear about the motor John, and your trans Brian, seems like none of us are going to be much racing soon. I went to take my Z out for a spin today and I only have 25lbs of fuel pressure?
Hoefully the gause or filter is the problem, I wanted to make a few passes with the 3:73's before I did any more mods.

If either of you need a hand give a shout!

John
