The Chevy SS concept originally had this, however people did not like it so they took it out in favor of a traditional shifter. I hope if SS makes production it is at least an option. Now I love rowing thru the gears as much as the next guy, but I'm all for faster shifts. GM bring on the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Don't be left out in the cold just because some people refuse to bring in the new. I wonder what the Ford faithful will think about this?

I guess Ford didn't want to completely over-do it with a big pistol grip shifter. ;)

Pretty pimp. Will this be an option or will it come standard? I wouldn't be surprised to see it limited to just the Cobra. The GT and Base will probably end up with the stick shifter.

The SS concept wasnt the first. The Aston Martin Vanquish had it in production form before the SS concept even was shown.

A Ford guys point of view?Well Ill give you one. When it come to technology Ford trys to be on top like everyone else.Whence the reason why the OLD pushrod engines died.I say cheers it will help alot on the left foot. For road racing guys it should proove to be just plain amazing. To learn more about this set up

They are going to have a paddle shifter in the new 04' Grand Prix, so it's not that big a deal anymore. Those things are massive, maybe they are handicap controls..................(insert smiley). By the way, aren't et's usually better with a traditional manual?

Here is the problem with the paddle shifter. If the steering was just like it is in Formula cars then yes, it would work nicely since you only turn the steering wheel around 45* each way, unlike in a regular car where you have to turn the steering wheel couple times around depending on turns you have to let go of the stteering wheel therefore not being able to use the paddle shifters, thank you but I think those things are lame and I'll stick to my regular short throw in the counsel.

I think on the Aston Martins the shifters are on the steering colum so they don't turn with the wheel.

The C6 with the 6 speed automatic will have paddle shifters.

Ferrari was actually first with there paddle shifters that debuted on the 355.
the xlr might get a paddle shifter to but the vette wont.. not yet anyway

That will most likely be on a automatic trans. This isnt a auto it is a sequential gearbox.;)

Yep guesswho, I know about them. About 2 summers ago, Ford had some current Mustangs running around Detroit (unless I'm mistaken, a couple of people here also saw them) with chrome paddle shifters Ford was developing. There was also a components guy over on the blueovalnews boards for awhile that mentioned it a couple of times.

I don't remember if it was going to be an option, or if it was going on some of the sport models (Cobra? Mach1?), but it was certainly going to be on the next Mustang. Mustang was also planned to have a host of other electronic goodies that was aimed to bring Mustang slightly upmarket.

Since we're on the subject, there will be a mid-line Mustang that will fall between the base & the GT, much the way the Camaro LT and Berlinetta fell between base & Z28 Camaros. That's right! FIVE MUSTANG MODELS!

Base, (insert model designation here), GT, Mach, and Cobra!

As I said awhile back, Ford is going all out with the new Mustang. You would think that Chevrolet would have a concept car planned for next year's Auto show circuit that will steal a bit of thunder from the 2004 1/2 Mustang introduction at next years Detroit show, wouldn't you??? :D

Ford's going to capitalize on anything it can with the new Mustang. It's comming out in April 2004 (40 years after the original), the marketing planned for it is going to dwarf pretty much anything they've done in recent memory, and the word out is 2004 1/2.

Anything can change in a year, but that's what they're calling it at the moment.

TRIVIA NOTE: The 1994 SN95 Mustang was also due out in April (exactly 30 years), and at least one plan had it pegged as a 1994 1/2. But Mustang was done ahead of schedule, and was introduced Christmas 1993 as a 1994 Model.

I've owned a black 95 5.0 GTS. It was the Lx of the Sn95's and a 1 year deal i believe. I'd tell people i owned a 95 GTS and they'd ask "A Viper?":D.

I thought there was a 96' GTS as well. I am pretty sure that the GTS was available for 2 years.

For me and maybe some of the others here, could some of you Stang guys clear up exactly just what the SN95 GTS package entailed? I never knew it existed.:o

the '95 5.0 GTS was a one year only deal,it was basically a GT without the fog lights and spoiler(good)and without the GT sports seats(bad).i think you could get the standard GT equipment(power seats, etc.)as options.i don't know how many they made but it couldn't have been more than 3 or 4000 of them,if that many.i don't know the cost either, maybe 17-18K new??does anyone know?i also believe they still had GT badges, not sure though.they're pretty cool looking without the always stupid looking spoiler.

Thanks for the info. I agree, the spoiler takes away form the SN95 and newer Stangs.

Really?? With the exception of the Cobra R wing, I've always thought they looked better with a wing.

EVen though the wings they offered have a 'tacked on' look, I thin kit looks bare, and almost 'nerdish' without a wing...

Disclaimer: This is my opinion ... don't wanna get all those non winged (or winged for that matter) Mustang guys all upset on a nice weekend... ;)

I AM A UNWINGED MUSTANG OWNER AND I AM UPSET ON A NICE WEEKEND!!!well, not really.but,IMO,the exception to the stupid-looking wing rule is the '94-'95 cobra with its different spoiler, winglet looking deal.that was probably a poor description.it looks sweet though!
